Awesome, nice input and great feedback from everyone. I absolutely agree, Energy 108 was the BEST radio station ever. Their music programming and contests/giveaways were legendary.
Talk about other stations playing dance music in 1997-1999 ... there was 88.5 FM playing underground dance beats (even TRANCE and HOUSE - most people at that time DIDNT KNOW what trance was!), then also there was HOT 103.5, before it switched to Hits 103 dot 5 in '98 and then to Z 103 years later.
Yes, dance music scene was quite vibrant. One of my favourite memories from that scene is blasting trance from my parents car after I just got my G1 license in high school and people were like - "WHAT IS THIS? I WANNA KNOW!" Then I told them its trance music, Paul Van Dyk, and they were fucking amazed. That was in 1999. I kinda feel proud for being one of the earlier people in the area to discover and attain trance music.
For Energy 108, I loved their live-to-air shows the most. I would wake up 5 in the morning to hear repeats and underground tracks, as well as tons of euro. Oh, the memories. Tunes like these on live to air, legendary shit!

I listened to Energy 108 religiously. I won off their station pretty much every 30 days. So many contests. So many meet and greets.
Energy was the reason I pursued radio in college.
Curious, was the station ever located in Toronto? Cuz when I was listening, it was in Burlington.
Good question. I am in Hamilton, too, and the signal was very strong as far as Binbrook and Haldimand county (borderline).
Could it be possible that they had multiple radio transmitters?

Not sure. Only thing I figured, was maybe they changed the format up a bit (if they moved the station to Burlington).
Was the location ever actually in Toronto??
But regardless, yes, the signal of the station 108 was actually pretty strong. One of the reasons why now the current Y108 took it over was because of the strength of the signal versus the listeners. They apparently had more...whatever.
I was peeved when they switched bands. Blah. Then off the air altogether. Double blahhhh.

CING was launched in 1976 by Burlington Broadcasting, at 107.9 FM in Burlington, Ontario. Initially an easy listening and then an oldies station, the station switched to a dance music format in 1991, after several months of adding new-age music to its mixture of classical and middle-of-the-road music.
I remember energy 108, got to hear them while they were almost over. then I got to global groove or ciut 89.5 w many shows off there. I stil have a cassette w PvD at "Smirnoff Radio", (Bobby I still have to give you those!)

Not sure when I actually began listening to this station, but it was to the point that I wouldn't shut it off, even to go to sleep. LoL.

Yup, for me the transition was AM 640/680 then to 108... CFNY also had some interesting stuff in certain time slots but most of it wasn't my taste.
On a side note, it was always great times listening to the Shelley Klink call-in show back in the day (LOL)... I still remember the time a girl had her mom pick up the phone and give her shit on air for being up so late.
