I think the main issue is that it needs to be told to people you are taking numbers from they may receive texts. Otherwise, it's completely unsolicited. While I didn't get these texts from Circus (so it's not all about me or anything), I already get enough unsolicted ones regarding resolving my debt, who to call if I lock myself out of my my car (yes, I get a random text from smoe two company...in FRESNO. Never stopped in Fresno in my life!), etc.
And If they are on a list, having to send a # to someone to have it removed is so the 1980s, lol. Wonder if there's any free or cheap system online for signing up on lists (where it has a phone # slot) where someone could go and change their preferences (for both email and texts!).
I'm not no harm was intended. And it probably didn't harm anyone in the end. But people just generally hate receiving unsolicted material!
