He had a fractured pelvis, broken legs and his digestive system was done for, but the vets told us they could save him with enough expensive procedures, and we tried. After that I learned never to keep someone alive out of false hope and an unwillingness to let them go. Sad fact is that most vets will happily advocate unnecessary surgery on animals because they get paid per procedure, so they will feed you this false hope and take your money from you for their own gain. And because it's only an animal, they can can get away with it. It's very important to find a vet with integrity.

realy, if you have a good vet, they will stand by your side if you choose to euthenize and never say, "no; you really shouldn't do that"

No vet on this planet will tell you that you should euthanize your dog, unless there is absolutely no way of saving them. They will always offer surgery to try and fix the matter. Some dogs are able to fight off the cancer, but in my most recent case (see the "Losing a pet" thread) it's best to put your pet in a better place quietly with hopefully very little pain. That's exactly what happened with Gizmo, they said they could try to remove the cancer in her lungs but that it may not work and they may lose her. In the case of your animal, BTG, yes surgery may help but your dog might be fairly miserable for the rest of its life. I apologize for your situation.

That's because you're a violent 'tard.

Is half a dog still considered functional?

Y'know, just in case it gets to the lungs.
