Adrian,
Firstly, thank you for responding.
Please do not take my original question to you as a direct attack against your credibility. You must understand that when you are dealing with people on a creative level, they will want to know that they are after and if you post on a forum people will question what you have to say. It’s their right, just as it is yours to make the proposition in the first place.

Perhaps I should have read your initial post a little better so will take that on board, however it does give the impression that you are a little further ahead in the process than you actually are but I am sure this was not intentional.

As you are in this industry you must surely be aware that there are plenty of scammers and half arsed labels out there and it’s because of these people that you need to ensure that you set yourself apart from them by being upfront and listing exactly what you are able to offer from the get go.

I am genuinely concerned over the fact that you would choose to respond in such a fashion rather than address the serious questions and disregard the ‘not so serious’ comments. I don’t for a minute think that anyone here expects to be flown anywhere much less wants to be the next Tiesto.
You have nothing to prove to your potential talent base? On the contrary, I would say that you have everything to prove given your labels status at this time, I would say it’s imperative that you present a serious profile to encourage quality artists to sign with you.
At this time it is just a proposition that has no substance, what you are doing is asking people to come onboard and to believe in your vision; therefore you have to sell it much more convincingly.
Bottom line is that you need us as much as we need you in this day and age.

Based on personal experience, if you are going to be A&R you have to do more than just post some text in a forum. And you can ill afford to make the types of comments you just have. If you can’t take criticism you are in totally the wrong industry, and don’t bite the hand that feeds you, this much I know.

I sincerely hope that I will be able to look back on this and see the site and think to myself, ‘wow, these guys really got it together, good on them’, and will gladly accept a slice of humble pie if that is the case.

Many of us have been totally shafted by online labels and I even worked for such a label before I realised what was going on.

For the record, we all have lives, which is why we don’t have time to submit tracks to labels who will not take artist concerns seriously.

Your business sense needs an attitude adjustment or you will fail.

Nem

^ Nicely put, Nem. That pretty much sums up my reaction (and then some) to the OP's response.

You have proven that you're irresponsible, at best, with this simple sentence - never-mind the utterly self-aggrandizing pulp the rest of your post is comprised of. The discussion of your label in this thread was a little light-hearted. The fact is that you had people including me, before you posted this, looking at the evidence and, it could be argued, posting in a favorable light (even though I tend to be a little ironic in that regard, sometimes). My honest truth is that I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

And here's what kills me - YOU had people posting in this thread: producers who were ready to get to know you a little better. There are so many of these threads which drop to the bottom of the forum, yet you had our attention. It just wasn't the sugary, enthusiastic responses you wanted so you became quarrelsome and indignant. What a cataclysmic fuck-up. Seriously - that shit is a HUGE red flag; you discarding the opportunity like that.

You, quite clearly, have a very limited understanding of marketing or leadership. If you're going to post everything you've posted in this thread and expect people worth what you're looking for to reply, you have truly something fucked up about you. There is no way in hell I would ever put myself or my creative endeavors into your hands and I will strongly advise others, given the red flags you've demonstrated, against it.

I really do hope you post again. I'm almost positive that there is nothing you can possibly say to redeem yourself, at this point. This is not because there is nothing that could be posted that would redeem you. Rather, I believe you are incapable of posting such a refutation. I think that you lack the crucial social skills, maturity, and self-awareness fundamental to being a decent person let alone someone who should be in the position you seem to be in.

More to the point, I think you'd be a very hard person to work for and/or with. I'd rather get nothing and have fun than anything you're putting on the table while having to put up with a fucking baby of a man and who's worth more to his cocaine dealer than he is to his business. I've already worked for enough idiots to be able to see you're nothing but a mediocre, deluded dilettante.

Well done Nem - and well putted together.

On the end of the Day, it is your business man, and you take care of yourself, hopefully better than you taking care of your business.

Cheers

Actually you DO have something to prove if you're wanting people who don't know you to sign up to a label that as yet doesn't exist.

And for the record guys, I have a life. So, I don't have time to respond to this in 24 hours just to prove that we're 'real'. I'm too busy trying to find good music and organise good parties so, see ya

A new business is pretty much always a 24/7 task for the first several years. I suggest you choose to run that business or listen to music and organise parties, not both. I suspect you're into the lifestyle rather than the graft.

Not that it's anyones business but, outside of work we have personal and private lives. It's physically impossible to devote yourself to a business 24/7 and is unhealthy to even try. You can't make good music if you're dead.

If this forum had a genuine problem with 'bots' it should address it in a more polite manner. You can tell a lot about a musician by their attitude. I love how everyone who e-mailed me with the attitude that they are all ready a big deal had really very amateure music to present. Don't get me wrong, one mans germ is anothers gem, but unfortunately more times than not it's the people on internet forums who get shown no respect yet show much when they submit their demos who actually have a wealth of talent. They don't become so disposable.

You all have the right to say what you like and voice your suspisions and so forth, just the manner in which you do it speaks volumes of your character. Have a nice day and please refer any further comments to my e-mail.

Thank you.
