I got dragged to his party in Miami it was horrible! Agreed that the dirty dutch sucks....

He kept stopping the music during his set and getting on the mic. Horrible. My friends in Vegas love the guy but Vegas likes bad music.

I really like his Dirty Dutch radio show. I started listening to Chuckie years ago, right around when I started getting into Luke and around the same time I met him.

I had never seen him live, until this past Sunday at Intervention down here in SD after Morillo.

I left confused to be honest. After listening to the horrible openers that were seriously maybe 1 or 2 clicks above the 18 year old kid that is finally getting gigs for weddings and sweet 16's that still cant beat match 50% of the time. I was ready for anything. Tiesto could have gone on and i would have thought he was the greatest DJ ever.

I like that "dutch" sound that he played. Only thing that got annoying was he had a sample pad and seriously i heard variations "throw your fucking hands up" over and over at least 40 times. The little john voice over was played and played and played. On top of that he kept on "going on the mic" which consisted of plugging in his headphones into the mic jack and mumbling something like lets get fucked up or anything to that extent.

A guilty pleasure that i must say i had when he would break things down and play a classic hip hop track or a well known one. One instance, he slowed it down and played Sinatra's - NY NY, and blended it in to the Rihana (i don't care enough to spell check her) song - NY NY. He also slowed it for an old school gangster track that i really enjoyed, but shit hit the fan in a bad way when he slowed down to a slowwww rnb song that everyone knew (but me) and was going insane for. He would then speed it up and play more of the grime fidget electro sound.

All and all his performance was pretty good. Commercially creative but not on the level of creativeness like one of Luke's live sets. Chuckies flow was strong, but just interrupted all the time by voice overs random drops and his headphone mic. I would love to see him again, this time in a club setting. Because Intervention fucking sucks. Shit sound and Shit people (but good eye candy).

Like Mikey mentioned he is playing in LA tonight, i spoke to his handler and he confirmed what i had previously heard about an LA gig. It takes 2 seconds to figure it out, since its tonight. I would go tonight, but i just cant break away from finals again....

my gf just confirmed us for wet republic on sunday of MDW with chuckie, sharam, dirty south and fedde .. we'll see how it goes...!!!

i saw Afrojack at the WMC at the BBC1 party and thought he was pretty average.... would he be pretty similar to Chuckie?

i did like LBL's set at Avalon back in January...

i also dug Luke's set when i opened for him at Voyeur. the dirty dutch sound is definitely a fad but luke really is a good DJ, plays a lot of variety in his sets so it doesn't get old. I also was at the radio 1 party & Size party w/ Afrojack. that guys going to be big (although he's already physically enormous lol) but i'm just not into his sound

The LBL/Afrojack style house is one of my favorites. However, it is slightly annoying when hip hop gets thrown in...

...now that you mention it, I do remember Sebastian Ingrosso throwing in a cool hip hop jam in LA a couple months ago at Avalon.

I may check him out tonight...I'll come back w/ a review tomorrow if I do...(I've never actually been to Cinepsace on an Aoki night)...I remember hearing good things about the Sunday Aoki and AM had @ LAX a while ago, but never went there on that night either.

*update - I couldn't do it. Had dinner @ Beso nearby, saw the hipster crowd...was that a 18+ crowd? Just couldn't do it. My bed sounded like a better idea.

Seems he's part of the new Guetta trend - blending hip hop and house music. Hate all you want but commercially, this is definitely about to take off (not justifying anything in any way, just a warning). Guetta is playing at Power 106's summer jam or whatever this summer, amongst a whole bunch of hip hop acts. That would be interesting to see lol.

But yeah personally I am not down with the "dirty dutch" sound either. I like Afrojack and Laidback Luke's productions individually but making a whole set out of that sound is not cool.

saw him at ruby skye a couple weekends ago with lil john making a surprise appearance.

i'm a long time fan of laidback luke and was expecting something like that, but chuckie's stuff is a lot more hip hop influenced.

on the one hand, his show was one of the most entertaining i've seen at ruby. great hard mixing and showing off some turntablism. nice use of effects. (he does have solid dj skills). great crowd interaction and stage diving along with the music. all of that done better than someone like steve aoki just jumping around. crowd loved it of course. so i did like seeing something other than a dj standing behind the decks for hours for once.

on the other hand, there was no cohesiveness to the set whatsoever. no more than 3 minutes per song, mostly just hard transitions between "hip-house" songs... lots of talking, hyping and MC'ing over the music... especially annoying was him asking the crowd to "raise your hands if you love house music" every five minutes... even though he is playing hip hop.

overall verdict: he would make a great vegas dj

Clusterfuck DJ. I also just DL's one of his sets. I'll play it when I have others in the car who I know rather hear cheesy house or hip house rather than more experienced EDM music.

This incohesiveness of his music gives me a headace. But to be fair, the style does have very good commercial value, in attracting ADD folks, newbies, tourists.

Big surprise that the TA board wouldn't like the man known for Dirty Dutch. honestly, I don't know that much about Chuckie other then the fact he and Luke (Laidback Luke in this case) play very similar sounds.

Luke plays them much better and is a much cooler guy from what I know/experienced. I may catch some of Chuckie at EDC this year, but he's not a reason I'm going.
