This!

Guitar Center has a sale on Studio Monitors til Monday. A friend gave me a pair M-Audio BX8's. He upgraded to better ones. They're ok, nothing out of this world and they do the job well. I actually like them, but I really haven't listened to others.

Really?

Do you not bother reading this forum at all? There's been three threads in as many days discussing how KRK's are not the best value or performance for money anymore.

Rockits being the worst of the KRK range for producing, and the 5's being the worst of the rockits.

I gave my opinion. I didn't challenge your opinion. From the thread you suggested...it appears you and another guy have it in for KRK's, while most others suggest it as a viable option. So yeah, I want no part of your crusade. One thing it seems like most people agree on is it is all down to preference. Except you...you think your opinion is law of the land I guess.

I guess you also didnt bother reading anything, cuz i have no idea how on earth did you menaged to conclude that...
I`ve bought Rokit 5s two days ago, after some major browsing, and listening all sorts of powered monitors from my price range (up to 300euros), and after spending 3 days in the store, i was between Rokit 5s and Behringer 2030, and even if Behringer is louder, i prefered Rokit cuz it sounds much warmer and cleaner.

I'm not on any type of crusade and I don't have it in for KRK as a brand (why would I?), but I felt I had to comment after you posted up a suggestion that IMO, was a crap one and has been discussed, not just by me, but by people that are trusted and respected on here who have a similar opinion that there are way better options all things considered than KRK's rockit 5's.

Let me explain by saying my opinions come from experience such as managing the largest pro audio retailer in Europe for 3 years, running my own audio installation and acoustics consultancy for 6 years, and I am currently a film score mix engineer as my day(& night) job.

I feel know a little bit about speakers, hence why i spent the time doing the best shootout I could in this thread to share my thoughts:

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...d=&pagenumber=5

To me it seems the people who have a problem with what I say are KRK owners and I guess that's fair as no one like having their parade pissed on, which is not my intention. I just simply believe there are better monitors out there for the same money or less at the moment.

@evol. See the response and thread link above or just search for recent discussions on KRK's. That's where it come from.

Thats cool dude, you are experienced and all but that doesnt mean you can bash on other things just because you`re not into that.
If you are sound engineer, it would probably means that you`re using big expencive monitors every day, and you`re not used to some more crappy ones, so everything below that would sound like crap to you.
As for that thread, i`ve seen it and read it carefully before i took my purchase, but there are more big mouth talking than actuall conversation and useful coments about monitors. I`ve browsed what ppl used to say in past threads here and on variety of other audio forums, and after some extended listening i`ve decided to go with the Rokit 5s
Sure they doesnt have have some special sound, but they are fairy good for the price.

Yes, behringer is louder as i said and that can confuse some ppl. I wanted to buy it in the 1st place, but after tweaking both monitors all day, Rokit turned up better.

Now this is not even a subject here, there are better monitors than Rokit 5s for 500$, im just saying they`re not as bad as you`re representing them for some future buyers.

You obviously didn't read the thread. If you did, you'd know I did the test becuase I needed to buy some low to mid priced monitors and ended up buying the JBL's which are less that $400 per pair.

So no, it's not about money or elitism, and yes I do sit in front of extremely expensive speakers as my day job, including the PMC's that 19503 just posted.

I'm not elitist, I just have standards, and those standards are all relative to price and performance. They can be cheap and still good quality and great value for what they cost.

IMO, both professional and personally, I can bash things if I don't think they offer good quality in relation to cost and performance. Unofrtunately, this is how I feel about most of the lower end of the KRK range.

Again, KRK's aren't terrible, just I think that most their cheaper models have been overshadowed by new models from other manufacturers. They may well bring out some new great models models to change that but until they do, I' still going to believe there's better out there.

My advice to you is find more monitors to test. 2030 are not the greatest monitors (even though the 2031a's were pretty good at one point) and RP5's have so much competition that perform better now.

But what do I know - it's just my opinions, nothing more. If you're happy with them that's all that matters.
