Gotta love how the state decides for you when you make the decision not to.

I got my $330...

I put it toward my debt...

Listen guys... I hate this tax... I HATE McStealy...

Problem is that the majority of the ppl who voted, voted for him...

Also, most of the country has already implemented this tax so we were bound to follow...

Until the voters make this douchebag get voted out of office, as well as the others who have this tax in place, then it's here and to stay...

So I'll take what I can get, support my family with it, and take it in the ass with my fellow Canadians...

It doesn't matter whether or not I receive the rebate, what matters is that the Government of Ontario, despite a deficit budget, chose to administer an expensive rebate program attached to HST (at least BC put the savings toward deficit reduction).

HST makes sense - it cuts a whole layer out of managing value-added tax (and value added tax [i.e. consumption tax] is a sensible taxation methodology) and drives efficiency in taxation. Value- added tax should directly relate to reductions in income (corporate and personal) taxation.

The problem is that Ontario chose to bribe the tax-payer by providing a rebate when really the money should have been invested to reduce the deficit/debt.

McGiggleNuts needs to be replaced - Ontario is not under good stewardship under his leadership.

(Mind you, if the Conservatives sell the cash-cows [LCBO, Hydro, Lottery, etc.] they too will be making poor decisions.

We got our $330 in the mail the other day. Haven't really decided what to put it towards though. We have a trip account, so it'll most likely get thrown in there.

speaking of reducing Ontario's debt...that's another option for people who don't wish to keep their refund.

people can elect to help do so by donating their rebate to the Ontario Opportunities Fund (that was setup by the Harris gov't, before anyone pipes up and calls it a liberal sham or something, lol):

I haven't received anything yet, but I don't qualify personally. BUT....my gf lives with me and we are therefore considered "common law" and this is stated on our taxes, so since she doesn't work I do qualify now with the "couple" income.

So should I be getting a cheque then? Does it matter if I haven't done my 2009 taxes yet?
