It doesn't matter whether or not I receive the rebate, what matters is that the Government of Ontario, despite a deficit budget, chose to administer an expensive rebate program attached to HST (at least BC put the savings toward deficit reduction).
HST makes sense - it cuts a whole layer out of managing value-added tax (and value added tax [i.e. consumption tax] is a sensible taxation methodology) and drives efficiency in taxation. Value- added tax should directly relate to reductions in income (corporate and personal) taxation.
The problem is that Ontario chose to bribe the tax-payer by providing a rebate when really the money should have been invested to reduce the deficit/debt.
McGiggleNuts needs to be replaced - Ontario is not under good stewardship under his leadership.
(Mind you, if the Conservatives sell the cash-cows [LCBO, Hydro, Lottery, etc.] they too will be making poor decisions.
