i use sends mostly for my reverb.
i tend to hi pass them to get rid of the muddyness of the reverb. it sounds cleaner IMO.
sometimes if you want you can eq the verb to.
room settings etc. depends on what effect you are going for but i did read somewhere recently (actually my bad was of a tutorial of a international producer forget which one but quitewell known.) that you should use similar reverbs in the track as you dont want it to sound "fake"
but sometimes i think to get the right effect on some instruments you need to have different times on your reverb.

have a play with the sends.. eg have a aux that you can send to which hyperthetically has a long big room verb. then another with the same but compressed(sidechain it ) and then a short room one..
and if you need more just create some more. haha.

edit: as you can see everyone has different processes for sending verb. try em and see which works best for you.
theres no definitive way to do things with all this!

Actually, I've just been stuffing around with my reverb setup again in a couple of tracks. Its amazing how much more cohesive, "upfront" and loud you can get a track to sound with the right setup. Same for percussion, whoever was asking about percussion presence should take note.

I just changed around the reverbs in a track and it went from being unfinished and unready for release to being something I'd be happy sending to a label. Awesome.

most of times 2 reverb sends:
- one with short decay for percs and short sounds
- one with long decay for pads, ambience, atmos...

reverb and delay is my only sends. im gonna try other stuff though (compression, distortion).

got 5 to 7 send-in on every track.

different reverbs and delays

got even 2 or sometimes 4send-ins to one channel, esecially on the snyth and plucky sounds. You get great FX when you move up those dry/wets! try it in the break when you want to let somethins in...
