once a contract is signed it has to be approved by the nhl. They have no choice to approve it, as at the moment it does not break any rules.
everything must be approved by the nhl before it becomes official. For now, the deal looks good. Expect other teams to copy this recipe for franchise players while they still can. This way you can build a winner now and worry later.
Chicago could have learned from this.
