its funny - they make a big list of stuff that "you need" to be a beatport no.1 with a good tune being 3rd in the list, however the irony in the article is that SHM achieved their no.1 without a good tune lol

That includes most of the ones that make it to "number one," too.

No wonder most tracks never make an impact.

wow thats really sad, you can sign anything no matter how bad the track is. Im sure someone can cook up something in 5 min and get it signed easily

This should be a contest for this forum! Come up with something in the shortest amount of time it takes to come up with it, e-mail it to a list of labels, and see how many of them get offers.

The equation for determining the winner would be number of offers/length of time in hours it took to come up with the tune.

I often notice this comment about 'most releases being sh1te'.

Makes me wonder whether most of us are deluded, myself included.

I'd like something called the BRUTAL TRUTH THREAD where you most a work and people don;t hold back and try and feedback as if you were just a random producer offering on beatport. Given we only buy a small percentage of each months releases, we must be a lot fussier than the normal feedback threads would indicate.

This won't appeal to everyone, but for me as an obsessive I'd love just a thread where the rule is TRUTH AND BRUTALITY ONLY - NO CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISCISM ALLOWED.

In fact this would be unique amongst forums - any chance we could have such a thread here in this production part - I hate having to click into the feedback section and out of here.

Love.

While I don't care much about the track highlighted in the article, and a lot of it was information that has been presented before, I did like the use of actual numbers and data that was presented in the article.

Good article nothing new in it but helpful to read.

I believe the track would of got to number 1 regardless. Those guys are massive in their own right, and huge as SHM. Now as soon as people catch wind of SHM very 1st release after years of them touring and putting on events, plus the fact they have their own individual careers, it isnt any real surprise the outcome of the track in the charts.

People follow their every move, it was obvious they would get number 1. That said have you guys heard this? I dont know if its a joke or not.

A blantant rip off of SHM - one.

The biggest cvnt of them all. I can't believe he won a grammy for ripping off a coldpay track and I can't figure out who is shitter for it: the grammy's or guetta.

These people literally give EDM a bad name - it's people like this (note I did not use the word artist) that make me understand why some people think dance music is crap. It's music for douchbags and douchslags, nothing more.
