The only forums I visit regularly are TA, KVR, and Gearslutz. KVR is great for keeping up on the latest news regarding anything in the software world. I think the problem with GS is that it's trying to be something that it isn't. It was always a forum for hardcore gear snobs, but it is trying to grow into all things to all musicians/producers. I think that when you step back and consider that it is a site that was founded by and still largely dominated by guys who simply love hardware gear, it's easier to accept the snobbery (to an extent). One of the other issues that it faces is that far too many people who bought their first piece of hardware suddenly decide that they're the all-knowing authority on everything hardware-related, turn into hardware snobs, etc. and they start spreading way too much misinformation. I've seen that happen far too often over the past few years. But, there are some very knowledgeable people there - the problem is that many people don't know who's who.

As far as other forums go, I used to frequent the Cakewalk forums a lot and they had some very good discussions from very knowledgeable people. Not a whole lot of EDM talk going on there, but there were always good in-depth discussions of music production going on. But, in recent years, it's been overrun by fanboys having flamewars with those who just want to bitch and moan about any little thing that they don't like about Sonar. But some of the other forums (e.g., Hardware, Instruments) have some good threads.

I've wondered the same thing but I've just been here so long that I've never really bothered to look anywhere else.

Slave to TA lol, but spend lots of time on SoundCloud reviewing a lot of track, PM-ing and exchanging great ideas/opportunities.

Cheers

I rarely go to the KVR forums. I visit TA production studio every day, it's the first site I go to. I think there are several reason why this is the best production forum, one being that it has just the right amount of traffic, not too little, not too much. The regulars here are nice, thoughtful, posters. I don't even produce Trance much anymore, yet I still like to come here.

Agreed on all points including the not making trance part for me also.

If anyone is into house, techno & other genres and need some more listners, IDM forums is good. They have loads of posters, but I've only used it a a few times so cant comment on all its forums. But its feedback from posters is good if you need advice on tracks from what I've seen.

TA, gearslutz (don't post), IDMforums, ITM for me. Mainly TA and IDMf for production though.

Gearslutz is a great resource, but they know nothing about electronic production. IDMf is really good but the structure of their forums is weird. The knowledge on there puts anywhere else to shame though in terms of E/IDM.

ITM is good for local stuff for me, I don'r read its production section much.

TA is good for laughs and not much else these days. I occasionally try to help out, troll quite a bit, and am occasionally even interested in the discussions on here, but I rarely learn as much here as I do on the other forums.
