Well I usually monitor using a can on each ear but swapping from left to right. When cueing up the right deck I use my left ear and when cueing up on the left I use my right ear and then I'll swap it around. U never know the situation will be when u play out, the monitors could be on either side.
Also it is an idea to learn to mix in your headphones either using split or stereo settings. Remember kids, tranceaddict always have to be prepared

I can switch back and forth, but I always use my left ear, and I think the reason being, I have really good hearin in both ears, but I can pick up more with my right ear and that is the ear that I use to hear the monitor, and my left ear I use for cueing

i don't feel i need to learn the right ear, seeing as if you're spinning out, the side of the monitor doesn't really matter considering its going to be loud as hell regardless
worse comes to worse, ill just slightly take the cup of the headphone off of my ear so i can hear them both in my left ear

Well since i have a speaker above each turntable, say if im playing with the right turntable, then my right ear is free so that i could hear the speaker better.

i have to use my left quite a bit....but i've got wonky ears....my right ear is 60% deaf, so all i hear is bass (which is both good and bad, depending on how you see it)....it makes for an interesting time mixing to any kind of crowd

Hehe, thats really hard in a Large Venue with Big speakers, cuz the live sound just overpowers the headphones, and all you'll be hearing is the live song.
