Great samples and pluckey synths. I would like to hear you incorporate some organic sample throughout the track alongside the drums. That robotic sample would sound awesome chopped and played with the drums!

As for the drums themselves, I really don't dig them. I've never been a fan of rigid patterns like these, though.

That synth you bring in towards the very end is quite tasty indeed. You should have more of it!

The pads in the breakdown are a bit basic and overused. You probably expected me to say this, as I am a hard man to please when it comes to atmospherics. You could try automating a couple more pads on top to really let things flow.

Post up the rest when you've finished.

Dude I'm glad you nitpick the pads, it's pretty easy to get a nice wide lush going, but making it truly spectacular is another matter!

A agree with you about the synth in the end. It'll be the main focus of another minute of the track and it appears briefly at the start but not enough.

That roboat voive (if you mean the one at the end of the break) is me through a vocoder

Thanks for listening geezer

Cool track, Geoff! I'm much like Owen in that I don't tend to listen for specific little criticisms - I'm much more of a big picture guy. Also, I think most of the criticisms you've gotten so far (particularly concerning the pads) are of the personal preference variety, rather than objective, technical comments. I tend to listen with an open mind and try to remove any personal biases.

To me, the drums aren't much of an issue because they aren't the focal point of a track like this - the melody is. So, more variation in the patterns would probably be good, but the melody carries the day anyway, so it's not a necessity as I see it. I actually like the kick - it's somewhat generic, but that's OK with me. I definitely would NOT like to hear a "bigger" kick in this track, for the reasons discussed above.

BTW, I love that blippy arp that comes in around the 4:00 mark - it's very suitable for a "robot" track and TBH, I was sorta expecting more of the blipply/glitchy stuff, based on the title of the track. But, going overboard in that direction can be too obvious/cheesy, so I think you've managed a nice balance there.

Like I said, great track and actually one of my favorites from you and one of the better tracks I've heard in a while. Sorry, I tried to find something to complain about.

Thanks Dave, some useful non tech feedback there.

I'm actually with you on the big picture way of thinking and tend to leave mixes when I think they're good enough for my own listening purposes.

this track had a few labels sniffing round though and when the idea of it being released hit me I realised there were a few holes in it in that respect. Even now that i've decided not go down the label route I still want to attempt a proper releasable sound. It's just a personal challenge really!

And yes, the 4.00 arp is my absolute favourite part of the track, and the reason I haven't finished it properly. I want it to go on a bit but haven't quite worked out how yet!

cheers
