The only thing that DIY doesn't cover is that after you do that, you really should put UV protectan on the lens. You can do that with a permanent UV coating (which I did not do because it's somewhat difficult to get right as I understand) or you can protect the lens by using a wax with a UV protectant in it (this is not permanent and will require maintenance).

there's no way to clean them right?

i have to check with the dealer, as i still may be under warranty. also gotta replace/fix the back light assemblies as they're leaking water into the trunk. :\

U can but it doesn't last very long. If u want to try it, use 1500 grit wet sandpaper...take a half sheet, wrap it around water sanding rubber pad and sand it down (with water) till it looks clear when wet. Then u need to buff it with a rotary buffer and buff it with automotive rubbing compound till clear. Wash the compound off, then buff again with automotive paint polish.

Cool, thanks for that option guys

Last thing: one of the assemblies is missing the dust cap (the cover that unscrews to give access to the lamps. Can I get a replacement from a store or better to check out a junkyard?

Car repairs can drive you crazy, but its better to replace the whole headlight assembly than to curse the darkness.
