Looks like you'll go back to lurking mode in no time. Here on TOTA everything is serious business.
On a serious note ... people just like to pick on other people, its not much of racism or hatred but rather about looking cool. Here's an example - a dude would ask which camera brand to buy, you say Canon but some douche would argue against you for Nikon just because he feels like arguing (he would have argued for Canon if you chose Nikon).
My advice is - partake in the discussions that are of interest to you, and be cool about the haters ... you gotta let things slide sometimes, or else it might get to ya easily. Its only the internet.
