NO, Waves are too greedy to deliver a single iLok with their plug-ins, as they also own ilok/Pace, they need that business to be healthy too LOL

If they put an ilok in with the software they could easily raise the cost of the product by 40$ and no one would notice the difference. They are simply preventing people from purchasing more than one ilok (in the event that the customer purchases another product from them).

I don't own waves products - never will, but if they really wanted to be greedy about selling the ilok they could make you purchase an additional ilok everytime you purchase one of their products. I am not saying they are not greedy, I am just saying not including an ilok in the package is not greedy. I do agree with you, I wish software was cheaper and I agree that this would reduce piracy, more people would purchase etc.

I hear this very argument all the time from customers and it can be applied to ANYTHING but it is usually not:

Pizza places should include pepperoni and sausage with the cost on every pizza they sell. They are too greedy selling 1$ worth of food for 12$ and making us pay 99cents for every topping we want on it. I know pepperoni and sausage are not REQUIRED to eat a pizza (in regard to an ilok being required for software) but I hope you get my point.

Do they give you a hardrive with a sample CD?
iLok is a musician commodity as much as an USB stick or mouse.
I think the disclaimer "iLok required" is more than sufficient
also iLoks are widely available, so it's not something exotic that's costs you days to obtain.

There are some companies (e.g., MOTU) that include an iLok with their boxed software and it can be advantageous, particulalry if you want to sell it later on. I wish Waves would provide one with their products, particularly at the price they charge us.

As far as dongles go, I currently have two iLoks and two Steinberg keys and it's not a problem at all AFAIC.

Well, lots of companies now are including a hard drive with large sample libraries. Good idea IMO.

Ilok is rubbish, especially considering that the only people who need one are the people who are buying it. pretty much all ilok software is cracked already, and the cracked versions aren't restricted by a dongle. So who's missing out here? The paying customer of course, while the pirates are getting the better product.
