Tech house. Just what I thought. What a shitty start for a label with such great reputation.

Oh, the genre police is here....
God forbid- Tech House!!! Techno!!!
Why can't people just listen to the music anymore? Open your mind, drop the definitions and formulas, what a boring world you must be living in...

This is a nice debut. I like how Henneberg changed the whole feel of the original and turned things upside down.

Good luck to DS.

yeah, progressive, house, tech-house, minimal etc. These days there's a lot of blending with the genres anyways (which I enjoy) so if their first release sounds tech-housey it doesn't surprise me one bit and doesn't say anything regarding the sound of future releases. As long as there's some forward thinking so to not get stuck in the exact same sound release after release I think it will be all right

Having said that, this particular release didn't quite fit my taste but I'm definitely not dismayed. Looking forward to the next release.

This got nothing to do with being narrowminded. Digital Structures have a history of being a label with a chain of groundbreaking releases so releasing something as dull as this can hardly expect big jumps for joy. I'm pretty sure this release will be forgotten within 1-2 months and never picked up again. Compare this with some of the gems they released in the past: Vibrasphere - Archipelago, Ticon - Zero Six After, Etnoscope - Drums from the dawn of time, Jaïa - Fiction, Son Kite - Colours and so on...
It's such a pity that so many progressive labels have narrowed themselves down to produce exactly the same tech house sound and so many producers such as Antix, Tegma, Perfect Stranger have jumped on the tech house train.

I am not a fan of tech house either but the sound you are referring to was as common as the technoish sound is nowadays. The albums you cited are very similar one to each other (except the Etnoscope one which is still one of the most unique in the prog genre) and there were also a lot others sounding the same way. I loved that sound but I guess it drained out and it has to pass some time before some labels return to the roots.

Agreed, but drifting their sound to one of the most overplayed EDM genres is such a cop out, I feel like they need to expand their sound and be inventive rather than minimalize it so that the new kids on the block who like deadmau5 can get into it.

How does Jaïa sound like Ticon or Vibrasphere?
None of the albums I mentioned are similiar to eachother in style.
Sure they all fit in the progressive label but that's why I liked DS so much. They had the best acts in the genre. And released the most memorable albums in the genre.

I mostly agree but what I meant was that the wheel has to make a full spin before we land again on more melodic and unique stuff. Atm this tech sound, unfortunately, is rising the sales and I guess before someone comes up with an album breaking this situation, we will listen mostly to that stuff. This just reminds me of 2000/2003 era when there was a minimalistic approach in most of the music (most acts released such albums like MFG, KoxBox, Ticon etc.). Its a matter of time...

And on topic: I like the original actually, decent music. Definitely not a bad start but I expect more from you guys! Good luck
