I find that playing house parties is even worse for requests which I why I try to never have internet on the laptop when I'm mixing "sorry don't have the song and can't connect to the internet".
Or when I'm feeling kind enough to let people look at my files/playlist and then being told"YOU SUCK THERE'S NO MUSIC I KNOW IN THERE!"
if you can, never play house parties they're the worse. If everyone is handling the music for the evening by going online without their being a proper dj it'll be a trainwreck. People cutting other peoples music off all the time, not even taking into account the fact some songs were already played, or that everyone was enjoying the song etc.
Once had a girl freak out saying IMMA DIE IF YOU DONT PLAY THIS SONG RIGHT NOW .... told her I didn't have it and even if I did I wouldn't play it ... she got pushy and annoying.... I unplugged all my stuff and proceeded to let someone take over with their ipod after there being a lot of yelling and bitching at the girl/me etc
