After spending a lot of time with this game, I really think Bungie hit the nail on the head.
Obviously, history has shown that you are either a Halo fan or you're not. But, Reach is so well done that I think it could even pull in some non-believers if they were to give it a real chance. It still feels like Halo, but it really has been tweaked and polished into a really solid shooter... and they totally nailed the fun-factor.
Mind you, I'm speaking about multiplayer. I haven't touched the campaign, yet.
The maps are very well designed, the guns are very well thought out, and the new armor abilities really add a cool element to the game (sprint ability really makes the game not feel so "Halo slow").
Anyhow, those are my thoughts on it so far. /fanboy
