If people haven't seen Orlando Voorn's commentary on RA
quote:
The real Reason why Orlando Voorn made "Work That Deadmouse"
after reading the comments regarding the real reason why I made "Work that Deadmouse" I wanted to finally put to rest why Deadmouse remix will not have proper release.here's the remix, keep in mind the remix has the advantage of modern technology as it is today verses what was available in the 90's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG5CvsLizBc the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMCJWeKERi0 now ask yourself would you be mad?
Hello Everyone!!! First off I am not as mad as people may think and I want to be very clear that “Work that Deadmouse” has nothing to do with 2PAC and Biggie Smalls hip hop conflict, it was more humorous than anything else please do not compare this track it was not made for that purpose. Thank you!

I also understand this is a great opportunity for “trainspotters” to write a review and put there 50 cents in on why I made" Work That Deadmouse". Yet the only people who knew how it all went down is me, Deadmau5 & his managers.

Allow me to give you a little history about this track: I made the original Paco di Bango in 1997 under the label Urban Sound of Amsterdam and the reason I made the track in the first place was because of the cheesy music that was being played in the 90’s however due to the cover having a Playboy logo that was altered with the middle finger up the track had to be pulled after only being out less than one month.

Hugh Hefner the owner of Playboy industries became agitated and sent 4 lawyers my way and the record company very quickly had to pull the release. This caused a little bit of a steer in the media hence we had to re-release the record and change the name from “Playboy” into “PB” which was not as prevailing as Playboy.

Last year Deadmau5 had posted on his Facebook blog that he had a track stuck in his mind (Paco di bango) and made it clear to his fans that he wanted to remix it and put it out on his mousetrap label. So I contacted Joel on Skypee to discuss negotiations on the re-release of Paco di Bango World.

I thought to myself well why not? I could let the track have a new life and Joel “Deadmau5” told me to discuss my terms with his managers. His management team came back with a memo deal agreement that was less desirable and shortly after that Joel had the remix finished before terms were even agreed upon by both parties. Questioning the motives yet I still thought to myself let's see where this is headed because my original will still remain the original and Deadmau5’s remix could possibly reach a different audience bringing Paco back to life as I saw Deadmau5 having a whole new generation of fans!

Deadmaus had a real cocky attitude and stated that 99% of his fans were 18+ year old kids “who don't know shit about music but it would be all good for him” I laughed it off and said to Joel "I know about this business way to well yet I don't cater to the younger audience - my fan base is more of a matured audience from the 90’s.

During our many conversations on Skypee Joel had promised to get a deal going with an advance of $5000.00 I said no problem dude and when my manager proposed that amount to his managers they said they weren't going to pay anything and wanted to do a 50/50 split of the generated income. I went back to the mouse and told him WTF is this?

He told me his ass was tied to his managers and couldn't wipe off without the approval of them. Thus the deal we had agreed upon would not happen and I knew from the moment I heard the remix it was a pile of crap however I still allowed him the ok to release the remix and approved the memo deal agreeing on the 50/50 split.

Once the their "memo deal" recieved which was nothing more than a piece of paper with a name header and no physical address or anything that a normal contract agreement should contain. I replied to his managers "look you think I am a dummy or something?” I’ve been in this business well over 2 decades and you cannot fool me with the legalities of this document and I had declined their offer and told Deadmau5 that him and his managers are corny and that this mix was garbage and he could go to HEL!!! Joel responded with Deadmau5 mix is the best ever.... of all times and went on and on about his cocky self. The end result was that there would be NO official release of Paco di bango World!

The aftermath: The Irony to all of this madness was I willing to at least give his remix a try to resurface Paco di bango’s existence and Joel and his fans started bashing the original. His fans praised Joel on the remix as if he was “godlike” and then to make the matter worse Joel started performing Paco di Bango all over the world using his mousehead to bang his head on which was the true motive for why he wanted the track so badly. Deadmau5 did not create Paco Orlando Voorn created Paco giving him and his fans something to "Bang their heads on understand what I'm saying?" Joel is not even capable of bringing the remix out properly due to (his own words) for not being able to wipe his own ass without approval of his managers.

Deadmau5 and his fans turned my stomach after reading what their response to his remix and even 25 year olds were bashing the original as if Deadmau5 came up with the conceptof Paco himself - his remix was garbage and now Joel has a new track called “City in Florida” I wonder where is got the idea? Hint, hint Orlando, Florida possibly..hahhaha, someone even noted Joel was clever to come up with theidea.

Nevertheless I waited a while and went back to my daily routine of producing quality dance music and about two weeks ago I felt that the world needed to know that Paco di Bango was my creation not Deadmau5’s and that I do not support his commercialized remix that he has turned my production into so I decided make a VERY bold statement through music and bash his "remix" that he can't put out except through an alias title “City in Florida” Why did I make this track? Well it’s pretty simple -it’s a perfect way to get even with a deadmouse who has made my original into a public forum for everyone including their momma's to remix.

It took me less than an hour out my day to resurface Paco from the jungle – I made it out raw and not polished. ....and IF Deadmau5 fans are sensitive to “Work that Deadmouse” so be it! Long live the UNDERGROUND!!!!

So apparently, even Joel thinks a bunch of you retards are worthless, he's just willing to capitalize on the crap you slurp up like semen.

well it doesn't really surprise me that Joel would think that way....that's why he produces tracks to fit whatever genre is popular at the moment. If happy hardcore became the popular genre you know he would be coming out with happy hardcore track after happy hardcore track.

And you'd be right, which is why, even though I like a few of his tracks, I feel he has no artistic integrity.

While I do like Deadmau5, and have defended him a few times, I will admit he acts like a total douche quite a bit. Plus, that remix really does suck. I am disappoint.

EDIT: And the mouse just posted this on Voorn's track on Soundcloud:

quote:
"@groundhog-boy: hey, this is just what happens when you like music. i dont have to write a fuckin 30 paragraph essay on the shit that "went down"... all i did was sample the vocal, sent Orlando a heads up out of due respect, played around with it, and played it out to other people. Then he walks in with numbers and deals which surely would have resurrected his otherwise dead career simply by association alone... and even since we couldnt agree on a fair deal... i dropped the idea of oficially releasing it. How the fuck am i in the wrong here? the rest of the track i whipped up myself in no more than 70 minutes, no assistance required from voorn. so hate a mouse for that. who gives a flying fuck? i dont. anyways, im glad i was at least able to breathe new life into voorns work. As for the apparently rivalry, fucking keep it in the sandbox voorn, coz i just dont give a fuck... i have other things to worry about, and hopefully so should you.... but from the looks of this little outbust some 8 months later. gee, making music for music lovers is such a complicated thing isnt it? Then again, i can see his point.... i'd be pretty fucking irate too if i spend over 2 decades making a name for myself and some punk kid in a mousehead comes along and manages to accomplish, and then some, what i counldnt in a matter of 3 years. sorry for eating your lunch i guess. "

Both guys come off as total idiots in this scenario if what they posted is true.

First off Voorn needs to learn how to speak English. His rant reads like it was written by a 2-year-old.

And then the point about how he didn't like the deal that deadmau5's management came back with. His response was...

quote:
I replied to his managers "look you think I am a dummy or something?” I’ve been in this business well over 2 decades and you cannot fool me with the legalities of this document and I had declined their offer and told Deadmau5 that him and his managers are corny and that this mix was garbage and he could go to HEL!!!

What kind of response is that? How about a simple "no thanks" and "lets rework this deal"? Instead he tells them to go to hell...what response did he think he was going to get after saying something like that? Grow up...

Also Joel's response shows that he lacks people skills. Can anyone else name another artist as big as him that goes off on cuss-filled internet rants? Do you see pro athletes in press conferences telling fans to fuck off after a loss? Or politicians bitching each other out on the campaign trail?

Why is he even wasting his time typing out this internet rant to a guy whose clearly not going to change his opinion? It's like talking to a wall. And he does it all the time too.

Dance music gets pretty much zero media coverage. If deadmau5 was in any other genre, this would be a PR nightmare. It would totally blow up in his face.

Finally. If you're going to type anything...PLEASE...PLEASE...cut this bad grammar bullshit. I'm talking about the lower case i's, not capitalizing the first word of a sentence, etc. Are the people that do this trying to look like morons?

Osterzone hit the nail on the head. It's hard to take either of their sides when they both act like teenagers.

Deadmau5 continues the ranting on his blog:

quote:
yeah... i guess im pretty easy to hate. Especially by my fellow producer peers.... thankfully, i can count on my fingers the number of times some person has appoached me, or i have sought out, a piece of music... and did my own interpretation of it.... i'd say 2 out of 10 times... it actually ends up pretty cool, we become friends, and we have good times... and our journey continues and we defo plan future collaborations for sure...

so what the fuck is wrong with the other 8? Why does everyone have to be so fucking stupid... what the fuck is it? Money? Jealousy? Spite? or just plain stupidity... all for fuckin 15 minutes of online "fame"? I hate to think a friendship with me can be valued at 15 minutes of fame only to be relapsed back into whatever situation they were in before crossing paths with me. But i guess it seems to be the trendy thing to do.

I dont sit around my computer making music to out-do or overcome anyone else. Im just twiddling away doing what in love to do then sharing my gift... and when the opportunnity arises... i like to join in or ask others to participate from time to time... Of course, given that everything at some point needs to go into the "big label machine" i usually just smile and nod that process till it goes away and we have a product to unleash to the world... and usually so do the other parties... no love lost.

It's really quite simple. But for some reason, sometimes, you get these people who you'\d figure are pretty fuckin cool need to inject their own brand of stupidity into the machine as if it were some kind of ATM machine... then of course that immediately terminates any future hopes of a working relationship right there.

and of course it doesnt end there... hindsight is a fucking BITCH. So probably somewhere down the line your likely to get a select few who are now SET on trying to get on your balls to remind you that they fucked something up. ... maybe start some kind of online rivalry, or public outlash that vaguely outlines their own failure in the process providing it makes me look like im some kind of thief.

Happens all too often in the music business. Advice for those planning into entering this awkward state of affairs when it comes to music and money... know who your friends are. And when you make new ones, you can usually tell where their proiorities are when they arent talking to their managers about how much money they could be making off something.

It's still hard to stay out of it when the fuckin babies start throwing the sand in the sandbox, but... being the outspoken opinionated guy i probably am... that proves to be a challenge most days.

ps. fuck you.

So apparently he needs to let all his fans know about his pissing match with Orlando Voorn.

Bottom line, you gotta know when to shut your mouth. You can't go through life telling people off left and right. I know it's this macho mentality (i.e. "I don't put up with any shit, I'll tell you off"). But sometimes you have to bend over and take it from the man. And the man in this scenario is your image in the music industry.

Joel needs to learn to shut his mouth...whether he likes it or not he is famous and sometimes you just need to take the high road and play the game.
