Of course I'm not talking about everyone (Stereo has been a much bigger culprit of this than Circus).

FFS, clubgoers should try to take an interest beyond a list of 10-15 DJs that keeps getting recycled over and over.

Also, I think there is too much emphasis on nostalgia when it comes to booking certain DJs. An attempt to recreate the nights at Aria or the early nights at Stereo. The only interesting bookings at Stereo have been the responsibility of others like 13%, MFR, etc...and not Stereo's booking management itself.

true, true. I mean I feel really bad sometimes since there are certain promoters here that are trying really hard to bring the scene here to a higher level but there seems to be a general lack of interest on the part of club goers. I may be wrong here, but it's not unheard of for a European DJ to play here to a crowd of less than 100, or less than 50 even (I've heard even less than 20 in some cases) which is just sad.

On the other hand though, I do feel that there is sometimes a tendency on the part of some promoters to blatantly self-indulge by booking acts that more or less are of interest to them personally, rather than ones that would actually fill up a room. Obviously, the best promoters are those who understand the balance between the two and book acts that are not only interesting to them personally but that also have a wider appeal and are able to generate enough buzz in general to fill up a room.

trying to bring in something fresh but really can't keep doing so if no one is gonna make it out

and the list goes on

i had a big group of friends going so i went as well. the music was truly terrible. tone depth did a sick job warming up the place and i wish he would have continued the night.

sander opened things up pretty well and he had the dance floor bouncing pretty soon after. but then things fell apart pretty fast. he was playing electro type beats that you'd expect to hear 3 or 4 years back. jumping around from style to style, it just didn't make any sense.

i still had a great time however, but that was more due to the people around me.

and yah, it's a shame that some of the newer "lessor known" djs can't draw a crowd there. it's weird. you can almost predict which nights will do well and which won't.

yeah, saw him last Nov at Guv and that was a decent set. He jumped genres but did it flawlessly, it was a high energy set.

Fast forward to about five months later and his Stereo set was kinda sleepy ...funky deep tech but bit too sleepy for me.

IMO, Circus is having a better time attracting "less-known" dj's and I believe it's because of the cost of tickets. @ Circus, it's most of the time 10$ or if you can get guest lists 4$ or even free ( depends who you know ). So for 4$, you're willing to go out and listen to a new dj.
As for Stereo, (I'm talking about myself here) it seems a bit expensive to invest 35$ for a little-known dj that I'm not sure about. I'll invest that money for a well known dj, that has a good reputation. Sadly, I think that too many people think the same way I do, and this is why smaller djs are having a hard time @ Stereo .

Dude, Sander has been utter shit for years now so obviously your idea of a DJ with "good reputation" is not a good one.
