I've been beta testing The Bridge before they made it public. When I was testing it, it was pretty complicated to use and there were some issues, but they solved many of the issues now. I haven't touched it since then, so I'm not sure what improvements they made.
One thing that I do like is the multi track recording. That means you can record your set live and have Ableton record it on individual tracks so you can go back and fix your mistakes.
The Bridge works all across the board with Rane's hardware, ie. 57, SL1, SL3, 68, however not all the features work with all hardware. To take full advantage of the Bridge, you gotta use the 68. Also, you gotta own Live. You can't use a hacked version. On your laptop, you gotta have the latest version of Ableton Live and the latest version of ScratchLive.
IMO, I think a lot of people were let down with the Bridge. All the talk that there was about it on the Serato boards when it was first announced has nearly vanished. Also, when Serato released it with 2.1, it made ScratchLive 2.1 very unstable. A lot of users had and still have crashes and other problems. You can read all this on the Serato boards. |
Nice post. Despite the fact it's been anticipated for so long, I think too many people are just too impatient. Perhaps they shouldn't have announced the bridge so early into development? I'm gonna wait until I know it's rock solid, but even then there are so many things that can cause instability issues with a DVS system. At least they seem to be taking the time to iron out the bugs and making sure it's going to perform properly.
I also think if you need to edit out a whole section from a track then the tracks not worth playing.
