I vote for the latter

Cheers man, heaven forbid on a DJ forum I ask has anyone experienced this before or have any informaton on what could be causing it. Thanks for taking a good minute or two out of your day to hit "reply" and go looking on youtube for that video to post up something that would set the human race back just a little bit. Thanks man, your contribution to this thread and the humanity was well noted.

Dude, you come on here, explaining to everyone that aside from turning on, your CDJ has essentially stopped working. Several people tell you to take it in for servicing, or to at least contact an authorized service centre, as the people who work there are the ones trained to resolve rather broad and vague issues such as the one you're currently experiencing. You continue to ask if anyone can offer you an online solution to your problem and you're surprised when you get the same answer as when you posed your original question?

AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO DISS KIDS IN THE HALL?

Here, try this method - if it works for cars, who knows?

Does anyone know if this could be the case?

I'm a qualified service tech for CDJ's - Unfortunately, if it's anything electronic that has gone wrong, you're fucked, as you'll have to send it in for the replacement parts as they won't sell parts to "civilians".

If's it's something mechnical, then you may be in luck as often it's nothing more than a spring loose or something having popped out of place. The 200's are a little bit more tricky as they are more densely packed than the 100, 800, 1000, 2000 etc.

From memory (I'm at work) you need to unscrew the base screws to remove the top housing from the bottom. There are ribbon connectors so be careful when opening. It folds open and you can remove the ribbon connection on one side by flipping up the catch.

Have a look inside to see if anything is particularly loose or suspect. You can get to the cue button of you remove the layers underneath it. Just be careful with the main lazer track assembly, if you disturb that it can be a mission to calibrate it again and get it to read CD's.

However, I'm giving you the watered down version and if this sound scary to you then don't touch it and just take it to a service center.

Wow, I'm amazed they're doing that - I think pioneer would seriously freak out if they knew.

EDIT: Now I know for sure; they're actually selling copies of the service guide which Pioneer strictly forbids.

Thanks a million for the reply. Will have a cautious look about tommorow and see what I notice and can possibly do. Hope I dont have to send them away anyway. Cheers again.

The problem was the cue button. I noticed that if I pushed down on the shell of the deck, beside the cue button that everything worked. I took it apart and cleaned in around the deck. It seems the spring for the cue button isn't working or is busted. Its working ok now but its a short term solution. Will have to go about getting something sorted so I can use the deck without fear of this happening again.

That's what i was getting at about being able to fix a mechanical problem.
You may just want to check it's not a build up of crap under the cue button, otherwise I would just buy a new cue button. Thankfully the cue button is an easy repair.

Well its the small black connector to the board, not the actual cue button itself. Thanks again man, wouldn't have risked going near it til I read your post, cheers

Oh, then that's an easy fix. Do me a favor: Are you saying if you press or wiggle it in a certain way it works again?

Is it the connector on the side of cue button PCB that goes to main board?

If so then all you have to do is make the connection firm again. The connectors can be cleaned.

Please confirm and I'll tell you how to fix it.

Its hard for me to explain without completely simplifying everything for myself. When I took out the cue button, the button itself is fine. It is the black button, that is connected to the main board, which the cue button touches when pressed seems to stiffened or possibly broken.

Was using the deck there, its very sensitive to the touch but working. Surely though one button breaking shouldn't stop every other button working?
