They've had some problems with the first batches of new generations of imacs (and you've got to be muppet to buy anything first gen) but it's always been resolved pretty quickly and as stated above they usually give you money back to say sorry while they get you a new unit.

+1

Apple bent over backwards to track down a problem in one of my Mac Pro refurb tower units. They went so far as eventually replacing every single component on the machine over the course of a couple of service visits, giving me what was in essence a brand new machine. All warranty work and not costing me a dime. I question if Dell or HP would have offered the same consideration.

A particular poll shows that 66%/33% voters have yellow tint problem ( the people who have problems with the 27 iMac's outnumber the people who got a perfect unit with twice the amount ), there is a definetly a lack of quality control at Apple.

I had to send back my computer because it was clearly not in proper condition also. By law they had to refund it anyway.

Some people even had to go threw 7 new 27 iMac in order to get a good one. So it's not all rainbow and sunshine.

The 21" iMac seems to have less problems than the 27" iMac,

Im not happy and I am thinking of just returning it. I hate this kind of shit. I by mac so I don't have to worry about things not working. Has anyone delt with their on sight tech team ? Are they just going to do all this shit i've already tried ? Should I just ask for another unit ?

Apple released 2 software updates for the flickering issue; it solved it for me.

Check for updates.

Poll results on any problem are always extremely biased to people with the issue. Someone without the issue isn't going to:

1. Look for a thread about the issue.
2. Care enough to vote in a poll.
3. Talk about it.

The only people who bring it up are people with the issue, this exaggerates things in the tech world so much you get polls that can look like 60 percent of people have the issue when it's more like 5%, and it eventually develops into people agreeing with the hive mind mentality of the poll thinking they have the problem when they don't, because they convince themselves they do, it gets tonnes of publicity and people who would otherwise not even know their computers had any issue whatsoever start SEARCHING for it (If you had to search for it, it wasn't a big deal in the first place.) and things get blown out of proportion, with people going through like 5 iMacs convincing themselves there's an issue.

Hey, good to see you back Eric! I can't think of any other brands that do that sort of thing, in face I've never seen it, and I used to manage the service dept of the largest pro audio retailer in europe.

I don't buy any of that poll (aside from the fact it was probably paid for by a competitor and I t doesn't sound accurate from experience I've had with other people) for the reasons that sean pointed out and the fact that a lot of macs are used by very un-tech savvy people, meaning instead of doing a simple software update they go back to the store and get a new one 5 times in a row.

Well I took it back and then ended up getting a dual quad xeon instead. I am felt like I had purchased a hummer when I really wanted an Abrahams Tanks with AA capabilities.
