Completely agreed. Those were nice but this one always stood out for me personally.
BTW, as it pertains to the video posted with the samples of the new album, just a small observation; is the new trend in mainstream trance to have all songs sound unfinished or poorly mastered? Some of this stuff sounds like it's a carbon copy of the 16 year olds who post in the production forum.

maybe its the sound theyre aiming for... i dont know, im sure they're all capable of good mix-downs. i havent noticed a massive trend in mastering decreases, although maybe the fact that vinyl died less money is put into mastering, i dont think thats the case... however i know some labels dont put the effort into mastering, being not profitable as a business aspect, although i disagree with it.
used to really love this record...
the tech-trancey percussion is really not bad at all.
this remix is fantastic in my opinion. the new stuff im hearing i dont want to purchase at all.

I never react when someone doesn't like my music... Taste is a personal thing , but this is a technical topic so I feel I need to respond.
I'm not sure what you are using to listen these samples on but I can assure you all the tracks are properly mixed and mastered. First of all I have been doing the mixes myself and I'm quite confident that after 10 years of producing I know what I'm doing. And second all tracks have been mastered at a profesional mastering studio for the final touch, So that's already quite a few of experienced ears involved in the production of this album.
Unless you are a professional audio engineer checking these tracks on top quality monitors I think you maybe reacted too fast...
All depends of course on what you accept as the 'standard' for a good sounding track. I hope it's not the usual overcompressed overlimited transient boosted noise you hear way too much nowadays...

Ok, fair enough. I wasn't referring to it being unmastered (obviously that would be impossible without the producer explaining it) but the sound just came across that way. For the record, I never implied that you hadn't mastered it yourself and for your sake, it's respectable that you clarified it for anyone who doubted it.
Some of the stuff coming out these days really does have an amateurish feel to it and that's just a personal feeling. For example:
It just doesn't sound like a whole lot of effort is put into this sort of stuff and sadly, I could add a whole lot of other tracks without searching or thinking too hard.

It seems to me that you are not really talking about the technical quality but more about the music itself. Nowadays there is a trend towards more 'minimal' productions again ( the massive influence of progresssive house ). With minimal I don't mean that it sounds like minimal techno but that tracks aren't made up of layer upon layer upon layer of sounds.
I don't care about the current trends but I always have been avoiding too much layering in my music so the melodic themes have room to 'breath'. I know some people consider very layered music to be more interesting and "better" ,it's all a matter of taste but it has nothing to do with mixing or mastering.
But just because the production is more minimal it certainly doesn't mean it takes less effort. There are no layers upon layers to hide your ideas behind.
Armin's recent tracks ( like the one in your example ) are done by Benno de Goeij ( of rank 1) and he certainly knows how to make a track sound good as well, you just don't like the music itself and that is of course your good right.
Now back to the new album disscussion please haha If you want to debate with me about music production feel free to contact me. I enjoy talking about that subject way too much

Great to see people going all the way back to their 2005 roots.

Honestly Jonas the samples I've heard are much better the stuff you've put out in recent times(No offense to your newer tracks though I will say some of them have grown on me like Hot/Cold Monday,Cold Winds, your remix of Soliquids track "maybe you"). Im really excited for your new album and will be supporting it!
