Problem #2: Remixes have to be licensed by the label. Blasting it to a forum with even just 100 other people in order to gather remixes would definitely violate their terms.

Problem #3: A-list DJs and even most B-listers have extremely busy schedules and do not have the time, patience, or inclination to sit around reviewing a bunch of cookie-cutter tracks. Even if they did, they sure as hell wouldn't review yours if you managed to crash their party somehow.

Conclusion: Bullshit.

100% nail on the head.

Actually, some do listen to them. I heard an interview with Erick Morillo and he mentions that he likes to get stoned when listening to promos. He also said it might take him a while to go through all the promos but that he does listen to a lot of them.

Other DJ's have FTP's or emails set up where promos go. When they get a chance they download them and listen to them. They might listen to them on the plane or when killing time.

Other DJ's have people screening the tracks before they get to them. So they will only listen to tracks that have been prescreened by their trusted peers.

One time I played with Judge Jules and he gave me an email address cuz he wanted the recording of the night. We emailed back and forth and at one point I sent him a track a friend of mine made. He replied back with feedback. What shocked me was that he wanted the recording at 192kbps!!!! WTF?

I think it is funny that you mentioned top djs having busy schedules. I suppose if you consider the time they spend recovering from all the booze and drugs work, you might have a case.

Also, Laidback Luke takes time to help guys out. He doesn't do this anymore these days though since he super exploded the past 2 and a half years. He found afrojack in his forum. He also takes time to listen to your tracks and gives feedback, but not these days since he's pretty much exploded and is super busy.

I know certain DJ's that have a private FTP for putting their tracks in for their friends/colleagues. They generally change the login weekly but I've seen it before and 99% of it was either promo or WIP's.

Not a forum but the same idea.

Actually, Axwell, Ingrosso, and van Doorn (SHM) also got a start on Luke's forums - it was in either Future Music or Computer Music mag. Can't recall. Basically, one moment he's tutoring them, next - they're superstars of their own.
