Quite frankly, I have already made the mistake of trying to promote myself on a forum and getting chewed out for it by angry members (the CraigsList Music Forum if you care to know).

best thing to come from this thread for me is learning there is a music forum in craigslist. its still early, but i think it will win as my neat discovery of the day.

Actually, the craigslist post where I got hammered on was from about a month and a half ago...

I was honestly asking to borrow a cello (which nobody took me up on) and somebody thought I was just trying to promote myself, which I wasn't.

The more recent posting from yesterday doesn't actually have any replies. But I think since it is a blatant self promotion, it isn't taken as bad... but who knows???
