For the most part this is my personal experience with "breakthrough artists"
1. Artist comes out and is amazing!
2. Makes more quality productions.
3. Gets his name out there, people start recognizing him.
4. Gets signed to a label with an album deal.
5. All tracks from this point on are unimpressive.
6. Move onto the next artist.
7. Rinse and repeat
...and yea I know some of the reasons behind why this happens, but I still don't like it
BUT a quick listen to the tracks he has on beatport and im liking this Soundprank..

haha Thanks!.. We'll talk this time next year, and see how things end up. I've been fairly quiet past year but the gears are really rolling hard though and 2012 might be a big one. I won't jinx it though haha..

His stuff is unique..has that big Markus Schulz type bass and nice rhythms..more on the prog trance/house side though. I'd recommend the track Ciel from his Endgame album and his remixes of Spooky, Escadia-Voz Del Mar and SQL-Leisure Battery for a few good listens..well those are some of my favs anyway, lol.

I have a couple for this. And when I thought about who MY breakthru artists are this year, honestly none of them are trance DJs/producers.
I'd say Avicii is this first guy that I heard and thought WOW. He's only 21 and every track he puts out is a hit. I have a lot of respect for him and I think I have every single one of his tracks in my CD wallet.
But MY favorite breakthrough artists are both dubstep groups. Nero and Magnetic Man (Skream, Benga, and Artwork). They both did two AMAZING essential mixes and the week after Nero did their EM (which included all diff shit from Flux Pavillion to Muse to The Who etc) I got to see them at Webster Hall and that was some ILLLL shit. On top of that I got my hands on the debut Magnetic Man album that was released on Sony which I'm fairly certain is my album of the year. Go ahead Burak, shit on dubstep all you want but if you can't see how fast dubstep is growing then you're in complete denial.

Gary Beck absolutely crushed every production he put out this year. He's my choice for sure.
