Analog sounds better sure there are shitty analog synths but it will likely still sound better than even an avg digital synth.
I also understand that every synth has its own sonic flavor. But from a more holistic viewpoint the flavor of "quality" digital is still usually thin and abrasive. You have to finagle, manipulate, layer, equalize and distort just to get somewhat close. The flavor of analog is rich, dense, and gritty usually w/out all that bs effort.
Although sylenth appears to have closed the gap quite a bit, it still sounds digital. It doesn't have that airbending punch you would find in the pulse or moog. When you open filters theres no drastic swaying of your walls and windows don't vibrate. Open the filter on a moog and your house will fall down. =]
But seriously tell me that imitation cheese tastes close to real cheese and I'll agree with you. Tell me that different cheeses have their own flavor and I will agree with you again. Tell me that when you want to impress people, you serve them imitation cheese, and I'll call you a liar. Not only do different synths have a different texture, but good analog as a whole has a texture software merely can not replicate. If digital is so good, why is like every digital synth always hyped on how analog it sounds... when noone ever tries to hype analog for sounding digital?
