Looking at the m-patch 2 it also claims to be passive. would it make much of a difference having one input balanced and the other unbalanced? both sources would be at max, 2 ft from the switch, so i dont think itll be a big deal at all

I'm sure it'll be fine dude... Assuming the switching works that way... A lot of gear has two inputs but only one can be active at a time and stuff, so I'd check that out.

Or again, get a mixer, since it'll have balanced ins on both channels hopefully...

i havent seen many dj mixers with balanced inputs but with studio mixers it might be different. i think the m-patch 2 is what you want though.
