The gould salad king/linda was the perfect 'just around the corner' place for a quick bit of yummy non expensive food
I guess Ryerson is really happy to hear this. Im sure they will buy the property the second it becomes available.

With historic buildings they have to use like, kind and quality building materials to the original so it makes it very expensive.
They even have to use the same techniques... so if the building was built before powertools then $$$$.

This is terrible! I used to hit up Salad King everytime I was in Toronto. Hopefully it will re-open elsewhere.

If by squatters, you mean thugs who were hired to burn down the place, then yes it could be squatters.

terrible that another old building has been lost. really wish all of the old buildings in this city hadn't been torn down over the years.

I highly doubt it to be an insurance scam.

Toronto police have confirmed that the investigation into the six-alarm fire at a vacant heritage building downtown earlier this week is now a criminal matter. Police told CBC News on Wednesday that they are working alongside arson investigators from Toronto Fire Services and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office.

Chemy was getting at that the motivation for the arson (allegedly) is likely due to the heritage designation rather then proceeds from an insurance claim.

Jewish Lightning FTW!
Lets see how this will work out. hmmmmm....
investigators will say that the results of forensics is inconclusive. The structure will be torn down. A souless new structure with increased capacity and higher rents will take its place. People will forget about it. Rinse and Repeat.
