Well, considering how overpriced their sw is, 40% off brings it down to more of a "LOL" level instead of "WTF" level. I'm still not going to buy it. Holler when it drops to 80% off.

and this is proven ? How do you account for all those big studios caught using cracks. And that is just a minority of people that can afford or should be able to afford them but don't because they cut corners which is an industry mantra really.

That is part of the whole issue with the time of 64 bit plugins not being issued.Ilock was destroyed, companies are not sure what to go with , Ilock is really reviewing its security but I remember the mac crack being a huge day for many people . I remember seeing on a release forum I use for movies that the waves complete package for PC was cracked. So now, anyone on MAC or PC can't get everything for free if they want.

I have a colleague that has some sort of financial interest in the company that I could email but I don't think they would ever admit this is the reason as it makes the company look like they are not in control.

i was going to just roll w/ the sarcasm you thought my last post had but i was being serious lol. I had the demo of the VX1 and all the vocal records i did through it i've received so many compliments on my "vocal processing". I barely even put anything else on the channel, it's really a quality plug. I own 3 x UAD-1 and there isn't much for me out of the waves stuff other than a few plugs:

- x nose/hum/crackle/pop etc
- VX1
- S1 (though not necessary)


I will say that both the de-esser's suck for UAD & Waves, the Sonnox one is something i'd like to purchase down the road as well.

I hate the packaging but I've used the bass plugin on a synth bass but there is an overall negative view concerning pros as they are just too specific even tho you can use them on anything.

the only plugins that don't get affected by piracy are mostly sample libraries that cost 1000+
The argument that the person wouldn't buy it if they didn't get it for free is valid but Waves has great plugins for 200 ish.

I always felt they were overpriced and that the world just wasn't ready to pay the same prices for something without a hands on feel, as something with.

A lot of their business would have come from piracy too. If not from people converting over from pirate to legal, then at least from the excessive marketing that it would have given them for free.

but people don't really know the real cost. They are not that expensive until you look at the big bundles. They are on par with most plugins as far as cost and they offer 24 hour tech support and will ehlp you work with your actual rig to get them working if they don't where as most companies will be , oh we don't support such and such.

Oh nice! I've been wanting to buy the Renaissance package.

I'm pretty naieve so have never gotton hold of anything cracked - but waves is something I've long wanted - I've never even heard it used but it seems like a lot of people use waves.

I was interested in the vocal-rider plug lately so as to reduce need for vocal compression.

Just out of curiosity and without nwanting to sound like a nooba, where are these cracked versions..........
