about making customers pay for the over priced dongle/midi keyboard, it was proven with the virus powercore that there's actually no need for the hardware to get the same sound.

^^^ Come on... I said realistic ideas only dude. Access are still making money off their hardware, however neccesary it may be. So they're going to keep selling it unfortunately.

I reckon a VST for UAD-2 will be forthcoming pretty soon. Now that Duende has dropped their hardware, I imagine that UAD will do the same shortly. People are coming to their senses and realising that hardware isn't neccesary for processing purposes any more.

More 64 bit support has got to be coming up too. Its just getting ridiculous at this point IMO. Ableton and Reason need to lift their game.

Well, of course not. The hardware (casing, keybed, knobs, etc.) on any VA has nothing to do with the sound. Access isn't trying to kid themselves or anyone else that it does. Nobody needs to "prove" that.

Now, as far as overpriced goes, that's in the eye of the buyer, but it's priced competitively with the rest of the market and Access certainly doesn't seem to have a problem selling them. And they don't "make" anybody pay for anything - people simply wouldn't buy them if they were too expensive. It's a well-constructed synth with a quality Fatar keybed, TI technology, etc. that is in high demand and, therefore, costs many times more than just buying its software code and a PCI card.

Yes, because software editors are a completely new/revolutionary idea.
I have absolutely no concern in how people are spending their money, but don't expect me to not laugh when access show up at NAMM showing off what a supersaw sounds like going through a leslie rotor.

You can laugh at free new features all you want. There are many of us who have the experience, knowledge, and creativity to know how to put those features to use and the truly innovative among us will find new ways to use them, while people like you will stand on the sidelines saying "LOL, supersaw though Leslie sounds dumb", then go on to bitch that they don't offer it in software. Besides, Access isn't charging us for all those extra features that come with each and every OS update and that's one reason that they've been so successful and why Virus owners have such high owner satisfaction. Access is in the business of making professional hardware gear for professional musicians and producers, not software for trance kiddies to trade on warez sites, and they've obviously been very successful in following that model. So, you can laugh or bitch about Access all you want, but in case you haven't noticed, they've been a lot more successful than you.

As dave points out, Access are not making the same mistakes waldorf did. They've found a business model that works, in an incredibly difficult market and kept doing well for over a decade now.

Yes, I'd love a AU version of it (as I just don't really do much hardware due to space and cost) but you can'y fault access for doing what they're doing.

why?
There is export song to .midi.
So make your song in reason and export the song as a .midi file, import the midi in to your DAW of choice and there you go.

Outboard gear actually. To try and keep the workflow in one place.

just forget about Reason, it was cool 5 years ago, but never bothered to keep up. It should have recording, VST-support, Midi out and all that by now, but no. And that Record program is a pure failure, why couldnt they just put the features of Record into the new Reason instead of having another app (with a USB-Dongle wtf!). Complete failure propellerheads. Logic for me now
