Ahh that's so cool! I was pulled up by one of those when I went gliding. I need to learn how to fly one one day. |
Glad to hear that my friend. Feel free to take lessons (from me, lol) anytime.

Passengers pay for the ride, pilot builds hours..
Dude you should go go Ft McMurray when you get your commercial..
A buddy of mine is there working on the ramp, making 70k fueling planes, and flying bush part time just filling his log book...
You'll never build enough hours here unless you get a gig instructing... |
1. Passengers also have a good time..
2. Working ramp is not my thing, but i wish your freind good luck. 70 K for ramp is more than what pilots get paid, lol. I doubt its 70 k, you might want to check with him about that.
3. I have a commercial pilot license (CPL). A CPL entitles you to make money when you fly. With other licenses, you arent allowed to make money. Instructing is also considered commercial becuase the instructor gets "paid" to teach. As a matter of fact, in Canada, you need to have a commercial license to get your flight instructor license (we call it rating).

where do you usually fly to? |
Well, 95 % of my job involves teaching flying lessons. Therfore, i just fly local to our practice area. Once in a while I get to go different places, but these days its rare. The farthest ive flown myself was from brampton to quebec city, with stops in ottawa and montreal enroute. The farthest ive flown west is Sarnia (i think).

If you had a water plane and could drop me off at the cottage on a long weekend I would so be in! |
I wish i could but unfortuantely im not qualified to fly on water planes (float planes). A pilot has to have a certain number of hours on those types before he/she can take people up. Im not a fan of water planes anyways, i wanna fly boeings.. lol

Would you fly me btwn Windsor-Toronto? |
The origin is brampton.... from there, we can go anywhere.... most people like to do downtown toronto city tours (fly around cn tower)... ive done those many times. But, like i said, we can go anywhere, as long as there is an airport to land at... and, you asking windsor to toronto or toronto to windsor?? toronto to windsor would work, the other way around, well.... its gonna cost some $$

is it true that airline pilots are some of the worst paid jobs? I've heard that a couple of times. You'd think they'd get paid a lot for that job! |
when you start new in the industry, expect to get paid shit. Its a loong road before you start making the big bucks. In some cases, you might be with a company for 8-9 years making say 90 to 100 K, but then air canada calls you and you will have to start at 37K for the first year, and it increases slightly each year... These days (in canada), you get paid well when youve been with a company for a looooong time, say 6-10 years??
