Not bad, but I like the original version better.

as with a lot of these remixes of the old classics i'm sure the original is better. this is a good effort by v but it sounds kind of restrained compared to solid bangers like godd i award this an 8/10

...somewhat fashionably late

I like FSOL and love Marco so this one was well worth the download, possibly I like it more than the origional.
Great track

Terrible. This is just noise- a techno beat with elements of the original strewn across the mix at random. The original is such a class tune, it was more than a piece of music it was a work of art... the flowing samples, beat and bassline creating a real tropical vibe. This just ruins it.

Right, During my 27 years on this earth, I have witnessed alot of remixes on my travels around.

I'm not a DJ, I do the odd cd for myself in my own style and am actually into FSOL.

There is a type of tune that is unremixable. There's a type that is so bad a remix is truely needed, and one type that can only be remixed once and no more.

Now, Papua New Guinea is the one that should never of been touched, Dirty Vegas - Days Go By needed doing quickly, and New Order - Blue Monday could only be touched by HARDFLOOR once.

So it's a thumbs down I'm afraid.

Its ironic then, that this tune has been remixed over 25 times, and not one compares to the original.

Confused Papua New Guinea [Marco V]

It's funny, because it's hearing the verison that was on the Cool World CD that originally made me sit up and say "Hey, what's THAT sound?". I don't even recall if that was the original or not, but the Weatherall remix that I do have shows what could have been done... Some elements of the original, with new themes and melodies, original, distinct, yet very similar.
For Marco V's mix, I'm with System-J. Pick a beat, any old beat, and pick some of the originals elements, any old ones, and throw them in the mix somewhere, any old where. I've only ever actually gotten rid of 3 or 4 songs from my collection; this was one of them.
Of course, if he can look back at his work and like it, none of this BS matters very much, does it?
