my advice would be what someone else said in here, start off with some easier music then trance (although i started with trance)... id recommend some deep progressive, satoshi tomiie style dark, deep beats with looooong intros and outros, or if that isnt your thing, hardhouse is good also

good suggestion on tomiie... his tracks are LONGGGG, with very long intros/outtros, and not fast. his remixes also tend to have clear well-defined bass which is a definite plus.

your best bet is probably to search around for a small collection to start with - see if you can find someone selling a collection of stuff like this, and pick it up all at once on the cheap... then you have practice vinyl you dont have to worry about and didnt pay much for thats what I did...

that's the easiest+best way to start for sure. you'll get to the harder stuff later. i don't think you'll need someone to teach you, best way is o watch dj's playing live or listen to live sets. live sets are the best way actually. +you learn to make your mixes more like professionals do.
listening to sets+asking questions here about how they do certain things are going to help you a lot

arm yourself with information. THere's so much on the internet about dj'ing, so if you don't know, read up on it, including the informative threads in this forum. Thats where I learned about equipment, beatmatching, new tunes, and all that. I even bought my decks off someone from a message board.
