I personally don't want to have to sit and think whether I should be posting my thread about a particular tune in Music Discussion or Other Styles. Or should I post it in Music Discussion only if I'm talking about the Original mix, and Other Styles if I'm talking about harder mixes? And I'm sure the moderaters (I dunno, I havn't asked them ) don't want to have to spend time moving threads then arguing about where they should belong. Look at the way Hard House & Hard Trance are going at the moment, there's a very thin line between the two, if there were two sections then Hard Trance would belong in one forum and Hard House in another. Who decides whether a tune is hard house or hard trance? There's no label on each tune, and in reality there isn't really an answer anyway, it's all subjective and in the eyes (or ears, boom boom) of the beholder.

It's called Tranceaddict because it's a site for tranceaddicts (I imagine, again I've never asked ), but Music Discussion is for discussion of Music, not just Trance.

That's my opinion anyway

I see your piont to...but talking about the styles....we call that "miereneuken" ....name the subthread Hard-house/style/trance..no problem..

Trance addict is the name but if you realize that lots of people like other styles.....TranceAddict.com isn't the site for only trance lovers anymore...it's to big for only trance ...their are a lot of other sections which have no line to trance....I think if you have the styles structurized you keep more people on Trance addict, cause people can find their interest sooner and easier than searching searching searching and searching....and about the music discussion....if their is a techno-thread..it's gone in one day....and not every techno freak is watching the Music D every day....see my point, the topics stay longer...

Spad has a point
but I totally agree with New Wave...
I think a "Other Genres" forum is needed

I know, that was my point too I'm just saying there's no need for a Techno forum when it can be discussed in Music Discussion. You say this will make it harder for people to find their interest but I don't see how; if you want to discuss music you go to music discussion. There's no point having to search through a number of forums looking for what you need.

Searchin through all the threads do suck....maybe not for you...but for many people it is.
But what I said....techno-threads doesn't excist long in the Music Discussion....and thats the problem...I see a lot of techno lovers but never get the chance to talk about it...with the new section...people can talk about it lot easier....I don't see your problem why a techno section isn't a good idea....it makes a lot easier for a lot of people.....and if something is easy to find people will get quicker to their goal.....

not a good idea, people would suggest a trance forum, hardstyle forum, hardcore forum, hardhouse forum, progressive forum etc etc etc

it would get out of hand

Hoer, hou je smoel!!!

yes sowhat?
It wouldn't get out of hand....split the music section into groups....no problem at all....trance addict is getting huge....and their are lots of discussions about every style...and if you have sepperated sections....topics will stay longer, people get more time to talk about topics..people will stay longer cause the have more threads about the style they love.....

If there were enough people interested in a topic, it would stay active for longer. The fact they disappear fast indicates there isn't.

well I disagree with you.....not everyone with the same taste looks in the MD area...and you know how fast threads pass by.....I noticed many times...and most people in the MD do not like every style....so they won't look to other threads.....when you named your threads..more people will talk about stuff....not being affraid and have doubt about it if they have a question....Like this:

I make a thrae in the MD area:

"What do you people thing of Stigmata?"

less posts.....

when you do this in a techno section....people with that interest see it sooner, easier and you got more replies.

(what I said about splitting musicdiscussion....it woulden't get so far, i know, I take that back )

yeah, good point, but the downside is that people stay with there music-style, they don't listen other music styles anymore so the people don't grow to other styles that they also like, because no one who likes trance is going to take a look in the techno forum etc.

see my point?

it isn't a real problem for me, but I can see why swamper could have a problem with it

Well IF people are motivated to look for other styles...they will look in other sections, if not, the won't visit the section.....same if you don't have seperated sections....if the are motivated to look for other styles, they look in the threads, ifnot...they won't open the thread.....so when you say people do not grow....it won't have any effect on that....

"because no one who likes trance is going to take a look in the techno forum etc."

Well you see, their are MANY people who likes trance and techno to....people stay open for other styles....and trancelovers doesn't have to come in a techno section....nowadays much won't look in the threads anyway, so it stays the same....
It's just my point that people with the same taste can speak about music longer, better ans more effective......it's not a trance site anymore, it's more like a house(dance)-music site.

The downside being that people might be put off checking out decent tunes they'd like just because they're labelled "techno".
