Blasphemy!

Red wine is 100x better for a good steak. White wine usually marries well with seafood or a dessert.

Except white wine after red wine, if you don't want the worst hungover ever.

I agree that reds generally go better with steak, but the whole red with red meat, white with everything else thing is old school and not really relevant anymore. This was done in a time where we simply did not have the selection that we do today, and the production of wine was still limited to a select few places.

Now with all of the variations and the abundance of choice, there are a ton of wines that break this old hat tradition. Go to any nice modern restaurant (and by this i mean no outdated french continental cuisine...sole meuniere c'est fini la la la la la la tse.) and any decent sommelier will tell you the same.

Not a big fan of Shiraz/Syrah, but the sauvignon blancs from New Zealand are delicious!

Dry Riesling from the Finger Lakes region in NY is incredible. Try this one:

That specific winery has a ton of award-winning varieties.

Also, anybody from Ontario know how any of the wineries just past the US border are? I seem to pass about a billion of them every time I drive to Toronto.

I've had this and really did not like it. Not for me, and I like Rieslings. I saw the award winning comment and looked further into it...the awards they won are a joke. No one cares about the Denver Wine Drinking convention

I used to never drink it, but now I have family in Napa, so I get "lessons" every time I'm up there.

I'm a newb, but I'm a big fan of shiraz, cab, and chardonnay. I don't really have any favorite vineyards yet, though.

What about the other 51 gold medals it's won
Also, are you sure it was the dry and not the semi-dry? I've had both and I'm not a big fan of the semi.

I drink one of these puppies about every Thur/Fri/Sat.
Pricer brands just don't cut it.
And an occasional Beringer Moscato.
