We've all gotten it through our heads, but we can still bash on you for liking awful fucking music.

This track in particular is terrible, could it be any more of a clusterfuck of useless bells and whistles and regurgitated epic trance ideas? Yeesh.

Like I said, I like the song, and I think it would go well in a set.

Clearly you can't build a set out of uplifting track after uplifting track, but one or two can really enhance the experience. Sure, a lot of them sound very similar, but there are slight differences.

The thing that pisses me off is that no DJ ever wants to play an uplifting track in a set anymore. You guys are all complaining about it, but have you gone to see trance DJs at your local clubs recently, or do you just listen to the radio shows?

I haven't heard anybody play a proper uplifting track in their DJ set in a while, and I go out almost every week. It's almost all banging stuff with emphasis on the bassline and not the buildup these days.

So while you think it's "ruining" the scene, it's only really on radio shows and maybe the big festivals. My opinion is that hearing more uplifting tracks would actually be refreshing, since they seem to have disappeared from the face of the Earth as far as the club scene is concerned.

first of all you are lucky if you have clubs that play trance in your city, secondly it's not surprising that they don't play uplifting, if i, that i still enjoy some uplifting trance, listen to a bloody 2 minutes breakdown without a drink in my hand... chances that i leave the club are high, by playing a lot of this in a row, chances that i don't have a drink in my hand are higher so... you'd empty the club bye doing this.

If electro house is so popular is because it has the 2 things people want, groove and fits well with vocals, trance vocals are fine to listen at home, quite dreamy but it's not what clubbers are looking for, if still your local djs are so kind that they play trance instead of going for the easy route of David Guetta and Rihanna i don't wonder they play something with strong basslines and synth stabs that's groovy and energetic , boys will jump ladies will leave.

Ps: About the festival thing, 2 persons have already told me that trance is meant for festivals, actually being a handsup style mostly it's not the kind of music that you can just listen while talking, if you see an Armin van Buuren live video everybody is jumping, hands up, jesus poses etc... fine, if you look for a out of the top 100 dj the club is half empty and people absolutely don't care about the dj, i've seen a Sean Tyas video where he has only like 4 people actually following the set, the rest are sit down, talking at the corners etc... he is not a good dj but well this shows why uplifting trance is rarely suitable for mainstream clubs

I saw Signum the other week after J00F, I saw Gareth Emery after Orkidea a couple of months back and I saw John O'Bir about a year ago. All of them played back-to-back ultra-breakdown fluffy bullshit the whole time I was there. So did the local jocks playing support.

I've never seen Signum, and I missed John O'Bir when he was in town. I saw Gareth at a festival and his set came across like someone trying to cram a 3-hour Above & Beyond set into an hour and a half. It was ok, but it felt like a greatest hits album... decent songs, not the best flow.

Keep in mind, I don't think a set should only include the huge-breakdown uplifting stuff, nor do I think it should only have "banging" tunes. I think there should be a balance.

I do agree that uplifting trance needs some more innovation, or at least some variation. Remember songs like "Let the Light Shine In"? It's uplifting, yet somber in a way, and it makes you want to dance. What happened to tracks like that?

That said, I still like the new Arctic Moon track.

EDIT: And my favorite "rising star" in the trance scene is Arnej. He's one guy bringing some innovation to uplifting trance.

I'm not claiming you think that. I'm merely refuting this suggestion that no critic of uplifting trance ever actually goes to the shows in question. I know exactly what musical crimes are committed at trance events. I could sympathise with your point if any uplifting trance DJ I've ever heard of played in a remotely intelligent manner. There's never any balance.

i knew you'd name that track, one track on a genre doesn't make you a genre producer , still that track is not uplifting, is just a prog. track with strings.

If tracks like these were made in the late 90's they would have been classics now for sure. No doubt about that.
I like them even after 20 years of listening trance approaching.

Heidi... 2010 saw 5000 shit trance releases but Heidi... it was my summer anthem, this is how uplifting should be, i think it's very underrated.
