Official torontofc twitter says DeRo is still a member of the club.

This is killing me. I don't mind trading DeRo, but we better get something quality back. Tchani and Borman aren't enough. Unless we're making room for a quality DP.

A lot of fringe/fair weather TFC fans are wondering why the f*&! TFC/MLSE would trade their Captain/Top Scorer/Hometown Hero.

There are quite a few reasons, but mainly it stems from the things that DeRo was promised upon coming to TFC 2 years ago (a DP contract/money), but that was all under the old regime. He's almost 34, and with this trade TFC not only frees up some cap space, they also got that much younger.

Tchiani was a 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft, and a Gen Adidas player (like Frei). Just 21 and 6'4, NYRB fans describe him as an excellent midfielder who's hard to knock off the ball. That alone is worth the trade in my opinion.

No matter how good you think you are, you're never bigger than the team around you and the badge you wear.
