Was the media always this doomsday-ish before all of us were born? I just wonder if this is just par for the course, or if we have a lot more horrible shit going on these days than we did before.

To a degree, the lens of the media always over-magnifies everything in its often random gaze, painting it with as much relevance and importance as the lead story begs for, but fear sells advertising space.
