If you lowpass a roomy type reverb at 4k i think you lose some of that roomy sound and it doesnt sound as bright, so i dont bother and just cut some low depending on what im sending to it

For big hall style verbs i would cut some low from those as its not really needed most of the time and can muddy up the mix, would usually take some top end of those types of verbs but usually thats already done in the preset anyway.

Hi and low pass the verb, use a pre - delay, generaly automate sends and also the verb level itself.

excuse the noob ? butwhen you guys say you high pass filter or low pas filter the reverb are you talking about the high and low cut within the reverb effect itself or are you adding a filter on after?

You can do it either way. I tend not to use my main reverbs EQ though as it's not adjustable enough. So instead I will usualy just use the EQ settings on the track where the reverb sits.

Tend to focus on the longer verb being suitable for the leed above all else, and have a shorter verb channel for other elements or just add a short verb to an instrument such as a clap and then convert it to an audio sample to free up cpu.

the advanced reverb/delay in Reason which ive been using for many years until now (moved on) has both eq and filter inside so i use both. various settings depending on track, i always start with blank presets and never remember what i did last time so i adjust differently. it also have gravity and gate which i love so fucking much. hope i manage to do the same in Logic and Ableton.

I also EQ my reverbs, but also my delays. Very hard I might say, I low cut reverb from 400 HZ and hi cut at about 5Khz. Same for delays. In the break of a track however, I might skip the harsh EQ and let the reverb through much more.

yes i understand about the actual eq process but i dont understand how you can hf/lp filter just the reverb without affecting the sound of the synth or sample you have the verb on. that is without useing the eq settings within the reverb fx.

maybe its because fl doesnt have this option?

I can't tell you about FL (as I took off my training wheels a long time ago )

but with a send, you're sending a "copy" of your source channel to another destination (in this case an aux track). You're Eqing the aux track, not the source track. The original source track still goes to the master as well.

You're then just balancing the aux return (with reverb inserted) against the original dry source track.

I think your problem is that you're only using inserts, which diverts the source signal path itself, rather than just taking a copy, like a send does.

so everyone always bashes fl, why is that? every time someone asks what the best DAW is everyone just ways whatever program they use is the best.

i mean Armin Van Buuren uses abelton, so technically shouldnt that be the best program to use?
