I think that's gonna be it for tonight! But progress has been made. As far as "improvement", my ears are toast! So we'll see

I have to say that I really like the updated version! Sounds groovey and smooth. The melody you bring in at 2 mins is class and I hope on a future update you do more with it cuz I wanted to hear it play through again! good work

Progress indeed! The lead saw has improved a lot, the riff has that groove I was looking for that moved my body. When all the elements of your track are playing at the same time (specifically beginning at around 1 min, after the first drop) its hard to notice the kick; It seems to get buried under everything else. Maybe bring up the kick to give it more presence, unless its a case of bass frequencies canceling each other out, which I doubt is the case. I must say I dont like the snare very much, and in my opinion it is to loud - thats the only thing about the track I honestly do not like. That melody that comes in around 2 min is fucking awesome, it felt undone though because it just kind of stopped. Complete that beautiful creation sir! I love the stabs of the brighter synths that come in in a rolling manner. It adds just what is needed with that saw lead. I really like this track, awesome progress!

Also, what VST or hardware did you use to get that fat saw lead? I really like it!

sicc:Thanks man, will def. keep all that in mind. The snare did have a little iffy fit in the mix when I finished it's a tiny bit loud or something, but my ears were toast I didn't know if I could trust what I heard. It's the Jupiter v8 VST. The synths are either Predator or Jupiter v8. Glad you are digging it so far!

van: now that you mention it one more time through that soaring melody in the breakdown couldn't hurt! glad it's sounding a little more groovy, that's basically what i sat down to do. also glad u dig the melody, good stuff

Did some more work, the snare was an EQ thing I think.. should sound a little better now. Bridged the breakdown a little better, some other stuff I hope you dig

* only thing i can noticably say is a bit much is the "metallic" rhythm synth during the breakdown, will tame that during the next session, that and i accidently exported the last quarter of a bar during the first part of the track. hehe.

The has way more presence which is awesome. IN MY OPINION...the snare seems to be a little high still, but that might be what YOU want in the track. The melody in the brakedown starting at 1:50 is awesome BUT; When the kick and snare comes back in it feels like it went no where. I would love to here the melody played out when it all comes back in for a more beautiful progression or something. Good work! ive enjoyed following your progress on this track, quite inspiring I must say as ive been rather un-motivated lately.

oh one last thing, after the first drop, when it all comes back in, I think some subtle yet grooving cymbals and other percussive elements would really bring some groove and rhythm to the track as a whole. just an idea! I like this track a lot!

I think the snare sounds ok. As far as the melody at 1:50 I actually like how it sidechains off once the beat comes in but I think the whole thing would come together nicer if you built up the melody to a bit of a climax instead of having it kind of hover around in the break. The song is pretty short so maybe bring the melody back in with the beat afterwards. But thats obviously just my taste and as it is now I still enjoy.

Thanks guys, I do thrive on feedback. I have a superficial question about this track though, and it may be a stupid question since the track isn't even complete yet, but here it is: does it sound professional?

That fat bassy type saw lead has defiantly been a pretty big trend in most popular trance and electro house recently. has been for a while,so on that level i would say so, but that question is very superficial xD

I think the rolling stabs are awesome and the mixdown is clean. The synths I guess you oculd say are very "high quality" or "professional" sounding. I like the melodies and progression. This is all just MY opinion. I dont really feel right labeling things professional since the definition of a profession is along the lines of doing something and getting paid to do it. Music is music, its what you make it, what you want it to be, for me anyways its an expression of intangible emotion perhaps, along with passion and connection. idk i dont wanna get all philosophical but i really like this track

i agree, and philosophy is okay too. that was a 3-4 beer question. it was probably just to stroke my own ego on a very minute level, but sometimes the tune gets lost in my head! also, it would be nice not to be continuing certain amateurish practices if i am indeed engaged in them. it is possible after a certain point though, it just becomes what you mentioned
