Watching the vid of the officer getting hit. Trying to work it out. Not sure if he:
A) Actually got a direct hit.
B) Took a deflection from the copper to his right (looks like it could have bounced of the shield).
C) Twisted his ankle or something on the debris that was near his feet.
Yeah he definitely stays down like he was hit directly...

For sure. I love New York with a passion and realise it does have a lot of independent stores, but the monotony of the chains is sickening. It's like every block has the same 10 stores, so not only are the stores themselves homogenised, the whole fucking city is.
not in my neighborhood.
manhattan mostky is, but not all of it.

big box chains are a cancer, but at the end of the day the low prices always win over the personal touch.
Actually I've started shopping at a small Asian supermarket because the prices are much better than what the big brands can offer. I pay literally 50% less for my meat than if I shop at Tesco.

in food i will agree with you. Foodies will always keep the smaller shops going because of specialty products (generally) and there are deals to be had. That being said, in terms of non perishable consumables no one can compete with them because these chains get the best wholesale prices vs the competition simply because of their buying power.
