I don't even like to visit my country of birth anymore. Ever since I got hips and a Canadian citizenship, the entire town tries to set me up with their son. And I mean complete strangers who come to my house bearing presents and asking for my hand in marriage.

Happened twice to ma petite. Arranged marriages aren't unheard of in the Japanese colony, but they're quite rare nowadays. Still, some bloke she didn't know wanted to marry her when she was 16 or something, and even asked her mother if it was okay. Her mother, quite amused by this nuttery, asked her if she wanted to get married just to see what her reaction would be, and she obviously declined with the most perplexed look ever on her face. The other guy was a Peruvian friend who freaked out when he thought we had broken up... the guy's got to be popular with the ladies!

"Hi, I heard you broke up with your boyfriend, will you marry me?"

He was quite insistent though, and I'd be offended it it wasn't so random
