I read about this 20mil a few months back. Maybe its not all what he walks away with but its looks possible for sure for money generated. Someone mentioned most paid dj ever or something along those lines? That price has been beat by now. My friend works for one of the major festivals here in the uk. He told me deadmau5 picked up £100,000 and david guetta £140,000 both playing at the festival.

Allegedly, Joel (the mau5) is commanding $100k for large gigs and festivals.

Not bad for a TA!

Tiesto is playing a gig here at a very small venue in Hollywood very soon, with tix costing $100 a go and only 800 capacity.

It is probably already sold out. That's $80,000 right there and he's probably keeping at least half that. Not bad for a few hours work in your local club.

That party is tonight, and it's still NOT sold out. I'm actually surprised it isn't.

special events (holidays, NYE, etc) = 3mil (30 shows at 100k each)

festivals (ultra, sensation, etc) = 2-3 mil

sponsors (armani, who else?) = 1mil?

Royalties = 100-500k a year i would guess

that's around 15 mil and i think special events + festivals could probably be lumped together.

he may have more sponsors or other businesses i don't know about, interesting to break it down

i can assure you tiesto's booking fee is alot more than 40k/gig. you also negelected merchandise sales, profits from blackhole, etc.

still you have to wonder what would happen if some 'producers' here spent half the time making music as they did discussing DJ salaries

Don't big "content" generators get paid by the likes of Youtube? I know it ain't "much" (maybe under 200K or so) but still money.

Shit, thought it was next week. I'm not a tiesto fan but I like the venue and the guys from MNS are a good bunch. I was thinking of going but doubt I'll pony up the $100 though.

Tiesto is no longer part of blackhole. He's got a new label though.

Well, unless you become a god at producing, and just say fuck the labels and go all underground with your skills. I already say fuck Beat Port. Club music is getting WAY too trendy, when shows how truly fickle people are for bashing on it for years and now they get all fucking wet for horrible, half-witted dance floor tracks coming out of left field. ****s, ****s, ****s. Pseudo electro pop dance house crap.

But, there is so much bad ass music that keeps me lubed up and inspired to keep making my own music and it's a beautiful cycle, so I can't complain. I don't really care what other people do with their time beyond that.

Damn, can't say ****s.

Calv, I think it's always been thus. Look, Marilyn Monroe was not the best actor of the time yet she was a publicity conduit, and that puts bums on seats, it really is that simple.

People maoned about high grossing actors like Arnie and Brue Willis claiming they did not deserve thier fame and fortune as they were just hunks of meat with little acting depth, but again what they were is publicity conduits.

We just have to get over this notion that only 'true' and 'pure' artistes should be King. In the end Tiesto brings enough fun and a certain experience to a willing public, so there is no mystery and nothing unwarranted.

Junk food is often loved too!
