It was a solid album. It's very difficult to balance out the morning and full-on sound so I have to say that in terms of albums, Zen Mechanics did a really good job (I can give you examples of when it was kind of meh if you'd like). Another mention of that has to go to Sonic Species; they really hit the spot when it comes to balancing out both and could explain why they've worked with Zen Mechanics on some tracks.

Brilliant and creative... well, you be the judge.

Solid is fair, but the overwhelming impression I took from it was that most of the tracks were 2-3 minutes longer than they needed to be.

Wow, seriously? I hear as good as no difference in style between the two compilations you mentioned.

That's patently incorrect. Full-on psy was created because Goa trance had become ostentatious and crap. Its pumping bass lines and stark melodies were a direct reaction to Goa's excessiveness.

Please, don't post Progressive Psytrance, when you want to discuss Full-On!

This is Full-On:

And nobody should even bother posting stuff below 145bpm...

There is a LOT of full-on psytrance being produced these days so it is difficult to make generalizations... but as with any style of music with a large volume of releases you are bound to find some good stuff if you go digging (and, on the other hand, it won't be hard to find crimes against humanity either).

Here are a few recent full-on freebies that I would recommend to TAs:
http://www.ektoplazm.com/2011/psyco...rallel-universe
http://www.ektoplazm.com/2011/aquila-gain-control
http://www.ektoplazm.com/2011/overdream-soundprints

As for commercial acts... try out new releases by Art Of Existence (Wizack Twizack side project), DuoTekk (Tranan & Ibojima), Braincell (one half Rastaliens), Man Machine (Excizen side project), and Ovnimoon. All quality IMO.

I like fullon when it is executed well enough.
I agree with people here that many if not most tracks are lame and cheesy.

Some of my faves:

How can something that was not respectable in the first place become respectable again?

Magadansky has a forest psy set. It's defined by darker, more sinister melodies and sound structures. It kinda borrows the flow from goa and the energy from full-on.

There are only a couple commercial full-on releases I've listened to in the past year and I haven't been impressed. I'll check out some of the recommendations in this thread a little later.
