HP to start shipping new TouchPads in 6-8 weeks
The HP TouchPad somehow had a spark of revitalization over the past month, perhaps it’s the price or those pining for one really want a piece of history. The webOS platform is smooth, intuitive and some have gone to the extent of completely removing it from the tablet and replacing it with Google’s Android OS.
Just last week HP wrote on their blog that they “decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand”, but gave no time frame. It was assumed that it’ll be sometime before the end of the year as that’s when they are “discontinuing the development of webOS devices”. However, today an email to HP’s Small and Medium Business customers says the resurrected TouchPad will be here within 6-8 weeks, at the hugely discounted price.
“It has taken us longer than anticipated to work through the high volume of orders that were received. We apologize for any uncertainty this caused, but we are now in a position to understand our ability to fulfill your order.
Your order will be fulfilled at the discounted price. However, we do not have enough stock to satisfy your order at this time. It will take 6-8 weeks to build enough HP TouchPads to meet our current commitments, during which time your order will then ship from this stock with free ground shipping.”
