I had never thought of it that way but you're entirely right

This being said, it's actually surprising I guess that I just don't "understand" any science fiction... so much so that I don't know whether Star Wars counts as science fiction.

I don't like Star Wars, the Next Generation as much as the original Star Wars.

The one with commander Adama.

Star Wars isn't science fiction. It's an epic children's fantasy story.

The book is even more fucked up. Pretty good read though.

For a movie made in the early 70's i think it pushed a lot of boundaries. Watching it 40yrs later of course it would lose it's appeal.

I was halfway through writing a massive post explaining what science fiction is and whether Star Wars qualifies, then I realised it was Lira and there was no fucking point.

I think it was a good movie, i havent seen it in a while. It was defniatley avant-garde for its time. I'm definatley a big fan of kubrick's movies and this was one of them.

If you don't find an appreciation for the non-norm of movies, i suggest you also avoid fellini films.

Nice try

Also, A Clockwork Orange has some pretty fantastic quotes. None of which come to mind right now.

This is true.

However, the idea of the movie (based on the novel) is the idea of what is considered "evil" or not. there are two meanings behind this:

1) is it "Evil" for a society to FORCE someone to be a good citizen?
2) what is considered "Evil?"

the premise behind the book was the idea of free choice or not. is it better to be a good person on your own (and have the free will to choose to do so) or ; have the gov't force people to be good citizens (thru "therapy").

very thought provoking, if your attention span is more than today's twit's is.
