You just have to do it a few times. Allow yourself to get used to it again. Unfortunately a lot of people seem to go rather bitter in their post-drug partying days; not capable of dealing with the minor annoyances anymore. It's up to you to keep a solid attitude and prevent that from happening. |
This seems like good advice, thanks.

Try just doing less drugs first. I go out sober/just drink a bit in the winter when the clubs close at 2am. But in the summer when I'm at festivals and partying out doors, the party goes til 8 usually and I am usually taking a few different drugs, along with a bit of booze and smoking weed.
However, I find your logic backwards. Last weekend I went to a party til 8am and only did 1.5 pills and did not do any drinking, and went to work at 3 that evening and felt nearly fine. Drinking is what makes you feel like shit. I can recover from mdma or mushrooms no problem. My point is, drugs are fun, but being MANGLED is generally excessive and you pay for it for a long time after. So just do one or 2 pills and have a nice small buzz on. If you moderate yourself, you can still have a non-sober night and not hafta pay for it... |
I understand what you're saying but perhaps I've not fully explained where I'm currently at with taking stuff. For the last 18 months, I DO take it easy with the amount and don't tend to get mangled. Problem is, after the club, we all go back to someone's house for a few hours, don't get home till 8/9am then when I do go to bed, I can only manage a couple of hours regardless of how tired I feel so it fucks me up for the next couple of days.
In regards to your comment about clubs shutting at 2am in winter, in the UK, regardless of time of year, I think nearly all clubs will close at 4am or later depending on the event. This brings me to another point. The reason I first started doing stuff was mainly to give me the stamina to go all night rather than be flagging by 1am and then struggling (and not really enjoying myself) for the next two hours before giving up by 3am.
Does anyone manage to stay out late clubbing without any "help" and not have it feel like a tough endurance test where towards the end, all you want is your bed? Anyone manage this who has gone from taking stuff to going straight? Or is this a sacrifice I have to accept that realistically, my club nights out will be shorter and less "epic!"
Thanks everyone else for your thoughts and comments so far. This is a subject which has interested me as there must be 1000's of us who have gone out, taking drugs regularly, got older, laid off the drugs, and subsequently laid off the clubbing.
Anyone else successfully made the switch back to going out without taking anything?
